Pay it Forward... Don't kill someone who DC's

LawUrDepravdHart·3/13/2017, 10:16:13 PM·3 votes·1,418 views

When a enemy DC's and just stands there begging to be killed for a free advantage in your lane PLEASE do not succumb to temptation. That person should pay it forward the next time THEY face an enemy who DC's and so on and so forth. If we work together in this fashion then I believe that we can make the league community better by encouraging more honorable behavior.

Let someone who DC's come back to their lane without the extra death. They are already losing CS and experience from the DC itself, and that is an advantage you can exploit to win your ranked game.

DC's can happen at any time to anyone for any number of reasons. If you start paying it forward, then eventually it shall come back to you full circle and you'll be glad you took a positive step forward.

do you honestly think the enemy would do the same for me if i was the one DC? I guarantee you they would not.

Let him/her stay alive in normals. Go all in on them in ranked.

When I'm playing for fun I'm sportsmanlike like that, but screw that code in ranked.

In normals? I'm usually lenient; if I notice the enemy is DC'd or afk I won't intentionally go after them.

In ranked? Fuck that shit, all's fair in love and war.

Honestly, I kind of do this sometimes but it depends on the situation.

Like, if I'm ahead in lane and was setting up for an all-in / a tower dive and they happen to DC at that time (which unbelievably seems to happen to me a lot) I take the free kill. I mean, in my mind I had like an 80% chance of killing you had you not DC'd. You don't get out of it just because you DC. And I understand the DC still costs you a lot, but I need that kill to start going off. I shouldn't be denied the start of my snowball because you DC.

Now, if I'm somewhat even in lane, maybe a bit behind and getting pushed under tower, etc... and the enemy happens to DC? I'll watch them just stand there as I farm under tower and not harass me and know they've dc'd and I'll let them start running back to base. I'll push the lane hard and go for the tower. I won't suddenly try to engage on them to deny the auto-run and get a free kill. In this case I had 0 chance of killing them if they didn't DC, so I won't go for it - although I will take as much as I can get while they are DC'd.

if it werent for the fact that i cant tell when someone has dc'd or is just afk or trying to force a gank i'd probably be okay with that.

though im not a nice person and it's impossible to tell the exact moment when someone disconnects because it doesnt immediately say summoner has quit.

Why so many downvotes? D:

I really really really find your message inspiring.

We should not underestimate our individual power. Many people justify it by "oh yeah but the enemies gonna kill me, im not gona do it" But you ARE the enemy, if everyone looses this attitude we can make a difference.

Untill recently i was a merciless dc killer (in normals, rip)

Then one day..I dc'd , I could see everything happen, but could not issue commands. (idk why)

I saw the enemy fizz land a max range ult on me, walk up to me, realize I have dc'd and walk away. (honored the shit out of him)

Since then I started sparing dc's as well. (Although sometimes its a little hard to notice)

If a person is DC then they are motionless, but sometimes they will continue to auto attack. If they are presently playing then they should be moving in lane to position themselves relative to your position and the minions to avoid harass and to secure CS (unless they are bronze in which case you could probably expect them to be so bad that they do not move). In higher ELO it is much easier to determine when someone is DC because of the way they move and react to your movements. Thank you for reminding me that ELO also factors into determining whether it is "obvious" that someone is DC, since I did not consider that idea before.

In Plat it is very unlikely that someone will attempt to "trick" others by intentionally standing motionless out of position for an extended period of time. The reason is because making such a gross error in positioning is more likely to cost you summoners and result in your death than it is to result in a counter-kill. In a case where someone is standing motionless then any higher ELO player would "test" them before going all in for the kill. In other words, if they are at full health then you don't flash on them and blow all your abilities to kill them. You would auto attack or cast a spell or two on their motionless character to see how they react. You could do this several times to satisfy yourself that they are not trying to "trick" you. Then you wouldn't be zoned from CS and even if they did turn on you then you would be a large favorite to win the ensuing fight because of your previous poke.

Am I selfishly propagating this theory in the hopes that in the future I am spared from a DC death? I'll just say this- I think it would benefit many players, and if I happen to be one of them then I am not opposed to it.

Unless you got killed while DC too. Karma

AdeBug3/13/2017, 10:37:22 PM1 votes

you can't tell unless it's specifically announced, and by that time they will start walking to base. you can't tell because:

  1. they might be waiting for someone to gank, like another person commented, therefore baiting you closer or forcing some ability out
  2. they might be watching the map, waiting for an opportunity to ult globally (gp, ez)
  3. the ally that just happened to look at your champ might think you're feeding, tilting the entire team

This honor system might work in unranked and 1v1s where you can agree to 'pause' the game, but in ranked or w/e game and w/e mode you play to win, this will never work because it's a situation you have to take advantage of, or else the enemy will. They might even trick you just so that they can have a first shot after which they can unload a whole kit and kill you. Attacking an afker is fair game, unless the people running it implement a pause system, or an afk system, like flashing a palm over the champ head indicating they're afk or typing and cannot be targeted, or facing a wall making the champ seethrough and untargetable.

It has been months since my last DC. Sure, it sucks when it happens, but as it happens maybe twice a year, it's not a big deal. If it was happening often enough for me to be bothered by it, it would be my fault if I'm trying to play with such shitty internet in the first place.
