Is it me or should disenchanting blue essence give more?

Disenchanting a 4800 champion gives 960 blue essence, that's 20%. While it takes 2880 to upgrade permanently, that's 60%. I know the 20% return and the 60% upgrade cost is fixed for all champions, but is it me or does that feel way too little?
