Why does the League system put high elo players versus low elo players in my solo queue games?

I'm a Gold 5, and I have another Gold 5, Gold 4, Gold 4, and a Gold 3 on my team against a Plat 5, Plat 5, Gold 2, Gold 2, and Gold 3? I really don't understand this is completely unfair.

Because those "high ELO" players have a bad MMR (match making rating). This means that they may be ranked Plat 5, but they are getting carried in those games and actually are playing on a Gold 5 or 4 level, hence high ELO low MMR.

Reverse, if you are a smurf in S2 but play at a plat level, your MMR will spike and you'll get tons of LP per win in order to quickly get you to your appropriate mmr.

That's not even that bad. I'm unranked getting put against plats and gold. That's unfair and the game is decided before even champ select.

Its not even medium elo.

Medium elo starts at plat IV

the chances are that the plat 5 is boosted and his MMR is actually gold 4 or below.

When I was in silver 5, there were times when I was matched against gold 5 and gold 4s and I usually and easily beat them in lane if lane opponent, due to them being boosted

Because you don't understand how MMR works. You can be gold 5 with a gold 3 MMR. You can also be plat 5 with a gold 3 MMR. Like I'm gold 5, but my MMR is around gold 1-2
