like over 500 games went from b2- s1 i thnk if i was a jg top or mid main i swear id be gold its just your too dependent on your team as a supp main and it feels like i have to have good rng to get a decent adc that follows up with me and a mid and jg that help bot, i guess i need to learn a new role in norms.
amazinick12133 votesThere are plenty of ways you can carry as a support coming from a support main. Here is some advice: If you are playing a playmaking support (such as Thresh, Bard, Alistar, Blitzcrank, etc.), look for ways to make plays (wow such nice choice of words) on the enemy botlane and set up kills for your ADC. After winning bot lane, or pushing out with mobility boots, you can roam mid and maybe coordinate with your jungler to go with you or invade the enemy jungler with him. Throughout the mid/late game, continue to set up picks and initiate team fights that look like you can win with your team. Go grab as many objectives with your team as possible after the team fight. As a peel/heal/shield support (such as Janna, Lulu, Braum, Sona, etc.), heal/shield and boost your ADC during laning phase to help win trades. If you are losing a trade, peel for you ADC so you can mitigate the enemy's damage. During the mid/late game, continue to heal/shield and peel for your ADC or APC, depending on which is more fed, so they can shred the frontline and continue to the back. Make the enemy team's life hell by peeling and not allowing them to get kills on your team. Supports are meant to provide the extra boost the team and in many ways are one of the most vital parts of the team. Warding is a job for the whole team but as the support, you should purchase sightstone and control wards to constantly light up enemy jungle, neutral objectives, and the river so your team has an advantage. You should also use your oracles as much as possible to destroy vision. I am by no means the best player, but this is just the advice I can offer. Good luck with your climb!

MysterQ1 votesI am B5 to S1 support main. BUT recently in S1 (after 1 demote (from 66LP !!), and 1 failed promo (back down to 0LP !!)), I have recently started playing tank top.
I will be the first to admit, I am not a great player. I do not think like you do that I am solid gold. Nor do I think any other role would help me climb faster, because I know for a fact I would need a lot of practice. But I hope to at least get Gold5 by November lol.
Tank Top - Maokai, Galio Worst lane I was maybe 20 cs under during laning. Best game 10 cs up during laning (once with 2 kills). BUT I go into every game expecting to rightfully just farm what I can. I want to work on my cs, but I would much rather turtle and not risk death. The last thing I want to do is feed. Thinking about it now, I should be better at knowing when I can push or not since I look at the map, but I often fail to predict the jungler. Even worse, if I push I am extended and sometimes the opponent will freeze on their side which is bleh (push more and run away).
I will say my cs goes down come midgame (honestly before midgame, because I often start roaming much earlier than a toplaner). I can still hold 10cs difference, but my turret will get damaged. But if I succeed in the mid/jg gank, I think it is worth it. By late game, my cs is way down. I am the tank frontline, and even though traditionally I would splitpush and have the tp for fights, I would much rather group and fight.
Overall though, I have had fun with toplane tank. I have won a decent amount of games, but also lost some games. I am currently using XP Quints and Gold runes. I do not know if those matter, but I will say. I am never far behind in levels, I am able to complete 6 items easier than I could as support, I am actually tanky unlike a "tank" support.
I know top is an important lane and can carry. But I am honestly tired of having teamcomps without a tank/engage. So now I take it on myself to guarantee we have a tank. Hopefully mid can carry himself, hopefully jungle can impact lanes. Those lanes are too important for me to play, but I can hold top.
Best games - when jungler comes, we usually get a kill. I play like a monkey so other toplaner plays bad too. Worst games - uhhh Nasus at 600+ stacks in lategame... sorry team (but we won), Darius with 2 early kills because I had only a loose clue what his passive did.
I queue Top/Support now. If I get top, it means hopefully a support main is bot. If I get support, it means I get my main role, hopefully a top main is top.

could be an option. He can pump out absurd levels of damage & sometimes people can underestimate the range on his [W]: Pillar of Flame. I personally love Tank Supports like Taric & Braum, but Brand (despite his reputation as a "Support") managed to help me out alot in ranked. It does start to kinda fall off some time around High Silver - Low Gold as people start predicting when you go in to use your abilities with him, so do be careful if you do decide to use him.
As for learning a new role, you should always have at least one pick for every role in the event you have to play something else.

PracticeAccount11 votesSupport main. Abuse the meta, play safe don't tilt and do everything in your power to help the team. They say ardent is easy to climb with, ardent only will not win games, make good shot calls especially barons, you can get to diamond with some grind, it's not as easy as being an adc but it's more rewarding, you will be the one to win games without anyone giving you credit, but at the end of the game you know you had the game in your hands. Ps always ban Trist, Draven, Twitch. Janna or Vayne.
