How the hell do these placements even work?

I just finished my ranked provisionals, and what the hell Riot?! I won 8 out of 10 of my ranked games, going positive every single time and getting more than 11 kills every game. However, I just finished my last provisional (again having an amazing game) and I get placed in Bronze 1.

[zombie-brand-mindblown] ...What?!

I am baffled. I really felt like I did well. If you don't believe me, here is a screenshot of all 10 of my provisionals: https://postimg.org/image/bbx7nmjjb/

My worst game was_** literally**_ a game where I went 15/8/4. Can someone please tell me how the hell I got placed at such low of a division? It seems to me that either Riot's placement system is busted, or I am actually trash.

You start around 100-200 mmr point lower then your previous season. How you do on your placement games has little impact on where you're placed.

Did you duo with anyone during your provisionals?

What elo were you the previous season? If I'm not mistaken, they use a formula that's something along the lines of (your mmr last season + 1200)/2 for where your starting point is before you do your placement matches. And if you played ranked a lot last season, your mmr isn't going to increase as much per win as it would if you were starting fresh.

Could be part of your normal's mmr if this is your first season, and if you did that well you should be maintaining an average of 30-40lp per win and rise pretty fast.

unless you win ALL 10 of your promos you will get demoted.

its a bullshit system. not only does it force you to play with teammtes who are alot worse than you... but it forces the opponents team to face YOU. which pretty much means they are screwed becuase your CLEARLY way better than them.

everybody loses when high elo players get placed too low. which is why i HATE IT when i see "bronze- diamond" crap.

EVERY game you play doing that you just ruined ranked for 5 plays on the opposing team who would have otherwise had an even match. because you are purposely abusing the ranking system.

You place lower then you finished last season. This means you have to actually work, as something indicative of skill should be

After every season, you lose some of your elo because reasons so the next season you have to work to get back to the point you were just at.

This is why I didn't even bother playing ranked last season after my 10 games.
