PSA to People Who Play Thresh and Can't Last Hit

The execution for Relic Shield is only for melee champs. If you can't last hit minions don't even bother buying Relic Shield and consider grabbing Ancient Coin instead to save both you and your ADC some gold.

As an ADC main, it's so annoying to leave Siege Minion to your Thresh and have him miss it all the time. Once in a while is forgivable, because nobody's perfect, but when you're just sitting there trying to last hit every single minion (awfully, I might add), not only does it push the wave and make us more vulnerable to ganks, we get so little gold from it.

Sorry, just getting tired of Threshes doing this.

I've been using the newer version of Ancient Coin/Talisman on Thresh lately, feels much more satisfying on him than it used to be with the passive heal. Plus it gives you some bulk now, so you're not left with your pants down.

The good thing is that there are 2 things you do to help increase your last hitting to proc the relic.

Take AD marks! It's actually used a lot to help.
Just let your flay passive fill up, it's nice :)

Speaking from the other viewpoint, its annoying as a Thresh player when your ADC just doesn't acknowledge your need to last hit some minions for relic shield, thus forcing the Thresh to try and do it too quickly which usually results in missed cs.

As a Thresh main myself, the mere fact that so many threshes make such a mistake really grinds my gears.

The tooltip for relic shield CLEARLY specifies the execute is for melee champs, so the fact that people freaking go to the report a bug section to say relic won't execute as thresh (people actually do that, its freaking sad actually) blows my mind, but not in a good way.

Thank you for making this post, raising awareness for this fact is much needed, somehow...

The fact so many threshes make this mistake makes me furious. Heck, I just got out of bronze recently but even when I was bronze V I knew this shit. So if I, a former bronze, know about this, then other people who are also bronze have no excuse for SOMEHOW not knowing about this.

TLDR, this PSA is really useful, and I thank you for that, as the mere fact people make such a mistake annoys me.

Also, if you're an adc saving cannon for your support, check that they have relic shield procs left. Too many times i've had an adc leave me cannon and rage uncontrollably for the next 30 min because they can't be bothered to check for glowing orbs that tell them how many procs are left.

As a support that tried thresh a couple times:

Physical damage marks. Your adc needs the gold and you need to give it to them, or let them take it for themselves. Don't miss! Missing is expensive!!

Max your flay ability first-- it increases your on-hit passive damage per rank.

Don't use your autoattack to lower it's health. let the minions (and ADC if necessary) do that! The on-hit damage from Flay is reduced to your base damage every time you use an autoattack, and slowly regenerates to full power.

I'm a thresh main this season, and I know exactly what you mean. I began a habit of keeping that cannon minions health bar open just to make sure I execute it right. I do miss it sometimes, but I have to also make sure my E's passive is fully loaded.

An adc main that lets relic supports hit the siege minion! Supports are rare but you are a myth that shares a table with Zeus atop Mt. Olympus for breakfast right before you pay respects to your old friend Hades in the Underworld before hitting the rift to deal out death.

PSA to adcs while I'm playing thresh with relic shield: please stop making me fight you for cs

Half the reason I miss is because I have to fight my adc to get any form of cs. I used to go coin because yes in a lot of situations it's better but in general this meta is not good for squishy threshs, and relic shield let's me survive longer.

...but yes I do suck at csing too. :(

Relic Shield - whether you like it or not - is the route by which tanks can offer heals for their ADC companion and earn both some coin.

Speaking as one who has played Thresh and other tanks I have found it hilarious when the ADC at half-health complains when you are last hitting -- "and stealing minions from me". (Sometimes you can't make this stuff up.)

PSA: If you're getting Relic Shield on Thresh, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TAKE FLAY AT LEVEL ONE!

The only time where it's ok to take hook instead of flay at lvl one on Thresh is when you're invading/getting invaded very early on.

I'm guessing a number of Threshes aren't aware of or aren't thinking about their Flay passive damage. When there's a siege minion coming up, I try not to AA so that I can get a safer last hit with the extra passive damage. I see a lot of Threshes just keep throwing AA's in the lead up to their relic pop and then miss it like 50% of the time.

Thresh has no excuse for it with his E passive, as well as AD reds being typically the best runes for his herassment style. anyone who misses it has an extra chromosome

Coin is perfectly acceptable if the Thresh player can shield his ADC on trades. That way you don't even need the heal from Relic.
