Who do you main?

crippler38··2 votes·1,086 views

I want to hear who you main and why, maybe some tips on them too, because with this IP weekend I was hoping to get a new champ but am unsure as to who to get.

Riven My time maining Riven has been, strange.

One one hand, I could talk to people and have an intelligent discussion one moment but as soon as I say I'm a Riven main, people fall apart and start throwing shit at me.

On the other hand, I have other Riven mains try to tell me that I'm somehow not a Riven main merely because I chose to be rational and open-minded about her.

Its kinda like a lose lose scenario here on boards. But its all good, because as a fighting game fanboy, I immensely love playing Riven. She just feels so close to home.

I literally just played one for all against a bunch of rivens as shaco, I would oneshot anyone who didn't build thornmail and all of them tended to chain knock up and stun you to lead to lots of sadness.

If I were to play riven though, how hard would you say the animation cancels are?

Depends on how good at kiting you are. All in all, its basically the same mechanically, with clicking back and forth on your opponent and some empty space, except you are dropping button presses in the mix and just generally doing everything as fast as you possibly can. Its literally one of those things you need to start slow at and speed up as you become more comfortable, or else you start "whiffing" hits and lose damage as result.

crippler381 votes

ok so I'd be terrible at riven since I can't kite for shiet, good to know.

the amount of bull crap people give is so stupid too ._.

Jhin Jhin has this 'BAM' feeling that other champions don't have, making it extremely satisfying to land that 4th shot on someone and killing them. Also, people don't know the damage i deal so it is often an easy kill when an enemy is low and i have flash (and fourth shot) (btw wtf is that lump on his shoulder)

DemiMax1 votes

Fellow Jhin main here. That lump his what he uses for his ult to mount the gun together (try to look at it while ulting and you'll see), it contains those mega bullets he fires in his ult. Thats not all it contains though, pay atention to his Q animation on classic skin (he will often use a different animation on High Noon).

DHZ2 votes

Long time Ivern main here. Because why kill when you can simply ask?

crippler381 votes

lol, I might just save my IP for when he's revealed to see if I like him

DHZ1 votes

Same, already got that 7800 IP ready. I'm so curious to see the new mechanics he will bring to the game.

I main Cait because:

I love long range. The trap/net headshot mechanic is lots of fun and deals tons of damage. I hate not having good waveclear. She is a lategame champ, and I prefer biding my time until I'm very powerful then slaughtering enemies.

She looks hard and I suck q.q, Reason I'm a shaco main is my mechanikz suck and he's fun but thanks for the idea I'll look up more on her kit!

DraygenBiscuit1 votes

I main Morgana, because to me she is fun to play, and I love that satisfying feeling of hitting that Q. I especially love it when they wander into the fog of war, and you cant see them, and still manage to land the Q... Best feeling ever. Hoestly though, take advantage of the free champion rotation and play as many champs as you can. Eventually you will find one that you just love to play and it can be your main. Don't main a champion just because he is Meta or because he is op. Find a champion you can truly enjoy.

crippler381 votes

I've tried morgana and suck, and don't worry I main shaco because he's the best clown in town I'm just looking for some ideas on who to expand to. TY for the addition!

umm well if u suck with Morgana don't play anything who needs to land a skillshot.. morg is one the the easist champs in the game once you learn how to use her ulti properly

crippler381 votes

I hit blitz hooks, naut hooks, and thresh the few time I played him I hit plenty of hooks pretty much regularly.

I can aim brand's stuff simple enough

same with most line skillshots

WHENEVER I TRY TO HIT FREAKING MORGANA'S BINDING IT FEELS LIKE THE BIGGEST BLOB OF NONSENSE I'VE EVER USED!!!!

I swear half the time it feels like it should hit them when it hits minions and the other half of the time it's the opposite, I don't get it at all.

(of course those are just the ones I feel should of hit, a lot of the time I just miss.)

Quinn ADC, Moving and attacking fast

Xerath, for the poke playstyle

Katarina, just a personal liking

Nautilus, cause I'm a freaking submarine (Abyssal Naut only Naut)

Jayce, because he basically combines Xerath's poke with Kat's all in burst

crippler381 votes

I agree on the naut (too poor for a skin) but thanks for the ideas!

Thresh

I have the range, I have the CC, I have the survivability. All it takes to win a team fight is to land your hook on someone. Then for that entire time it's a 5v4.

Velkoz Range, snipes. I play support on him. Trust me when I tell you that you will keep bot lane alive even if the adc leaves.

I see, thanks!

420 grams1 votes

Yeah, but he's very limited until like 3 items in. Sure he's not as weak as most say, but he loses all ins against a lot of people even though that's his speciality.

TequilaZombie1 votes

He loses all ins vs Top Lane Shaco. I can't take a champ that loses vs Shaco seriously.

crippler381 votes

All ins are what shaco is good at since you can't really get away and since he can pack ignite and tp or exhaust or something along those lines he wins actually a lot of all ins.

Problem is shaco can't clear or push a lane so that'd be pretty silly to do.

TequilaZombie1 votes

Sure... Silly... I totally don't do it whenever I'm not sure who to play.

PS: You said pushing? item 3077 item 3087

crippler381 votes

well I mean like it's not hard to stop shaco from getting those items since he's all single target deeps, although I haven't tried shaco top as anything BUT ap so maybe I should.

TequilaZombie1 votes

AP Shaco top is fun as hell, but AD can 1v1 better (and doesn't need as much cheese).

Just doesn't take him versus a stat check champ as Irelia and Renekton and you should be fine.

Assuming you use your clone wisely, even Darius should struggle a bit with you.

crippler381 votes

best feeling of dodging a garen or dar dunk with your clone man, that and I can see why dar would struggle since while it's hard to get out of shaco's all in it's pretty hard to confirm hits on a shaco that's playing like a bish.

420 grams1 votes

Tryndamere because it's so fun killing all their carries while refusing to die.

Zero Skill Tank1 votes

Teemo because I like to make people cry.

Don't main Teemo if you mind being flamed by allies and enemies alike.

The tip is make sure you are faster than everything you need to kite and get QSS against CC you can't dodge.

crippler381 votes

bro let me tell you that not only do I have omega squad from a box, but I love to be annoying (shaco main)

Good idea, practicing the little tumor could be good for me.

I main Shen in multiple roles other than adc, and mid. Not to say I couldn't passively hold mid turret long enough for a gank/shadow dance domination.

I can either save some ass or rather, ult engage under turret, and secure the kill assist. All in all Shen is a team player for the majority, my E negates auto attacks for my adc if I so choose to support but as of now I favor top, and jungle roles because I'm a bit more of an aggressive player.

Livin like Riven1 votes

Ezreal because he's extremely fun and is one of the least team-reliant ADCs. He peels for himself and, if ahead, can actually assassinate the enemy ADC 100-0 without ult. (Muramana + Triforce dmg is insane, and E applies muramana, armor pen from maw, bork being bork)

There's a few neat tricks to Ezreal, like having his passive maxed and e'ing into a W. Ezreal actually has the highest attack speed steroid out of all the ADCs period, between his passive and hitting himself with his W, which can also hit teammates. This insane attack speed with Fervor can make up for the fact that you've bought a Tear to their pickaxe, but you're still attacking a lot faster.

Ezreal also really needs Manamune and a sheen. Stack to Muramana ASAP. Manamune is a power spike, a sheen is a power spike, triforce/ibg is a power spike, muramana is a power spike, you just get SO many power spikes on Ezreal. Honestly, once you have Triforce Muramana, you can solo carry games if you know what you're doing. Triforce Muramana Bork is even better.

Vladimir

His laning is super safe.

His late game is extremely overpowered (he becomes tanky, deals AOE damage, and can 1 vs 2/3 easily); I play in Silver and games almost always drag on to late game and that's where Vladimir shines.

His skills are easy to use (E takes some practice but other than that, straightforward). His Ultimate has a huge cast range and blast radius, landing it on half the team pretty much wins team fights.

He has insane bait potential with his blood pool and he is extremely forgiving when you make mistakes. I love the point and click Sustain in his kit.

Very strong engage with Ghost + Ultimate + Q/E spam.

His damage is almost always the highest on the team.

I main Shyvana

Shyvana rewards you for game knowledge. She rewards you for map awareness, for knowing for the enemy jungler is and what route they'll likely take through their jungle. She rewards you for understanding your clear speed and damage output. She rewards you for knowing what the enemy has available to them, and knowing how to approach given that. She rewards you for objective control, counter jungling, jungle dueling, and splitpushing.

Shyvana is a champion whose skillcap exists not in mechanics but in mastering the macro elements of playing the jungle.

crippler381 votes

sounds like udyr, another champion I suck at but would like to get better with.

Darius no other champion makes you feel like a fucking badass when it comes to pentakills.

This guy has a notorious reputation in league when it comes to cleaning up fights. His relatively safe and sometimes even oppressive lane phase transitions into his strong mid and late game where his dunk can deal upwards of 1000 true damage.

Perhaps the best juggernaut design to date, this guy doesn't know the meaning of "stop." He runs into fights and sustains like a madman while outputting large amounts of damage with his decimate (q). His passive is a strong tool both in and after lane phase. During lane phase, you can abuse his passive to win trades by extending them with your apprehend (e) and crippling strike (w). Outside of lane phase the passive's primary use is to ramp up the damage on your ultimate.

The most notable part of his passive is noxian might. After dunking someone like a badass (killing them) or applying five stacks, you gain up to 40-200 bonus ad. Unlocking this thing will basically turn you into a melee carry who built mostly tank. Upon reaching the five stacks your bleeds on the enemy will depict a giantass red axe (or basketball hoop if you the dmaster darius) above their head and your screen will turn red momentarily, giving you this incredible sense of power like youre some ancient god of fucking war who came down to runeterra to fuck shit up.

The final reason I play this guy is his ult. The ability is so damn legendary that every league player knows it. You leap into the air and slice your axe downwards, dealing true damage to a target. If you execute an enemy, you can immediately cast noxian guillotine again within twenty seconds at levels 1-2 and permanently after level 3. Nothing is more awe inspiring than seeing the noxian general leap into the air multiple times to deliver swift death to squishies and tanks alike.

TIPS:

Dont overestimate your early game, darius's power curve is quite different post juggy rework. Certain champs you can stomp but other champs that you used to stomp CAN stomp you. Your early game power spike is level three once you unlock your full combo (which is usually a lot more potent than the full combos of many other top laners).

DARIUS HAS A CONDITIONAL POWERSPIKE. Drill this into your head. He isnt strong or weak early mid or late game. He is strong based upon reaching noxian might or not. You must do everything in your power to keep people in your grasp long enough to get off those five stacks. Until you get those five stacks, you have a decent early game followed by a shitty mid and late game. When you do get five stacks, you have an amazing early, mid, and late game when you get noxian might.

Start Q in most matchups except for annoying mobility ones like riven or yasuo, where you may want to start w first. For yasuo, I would recommend waiting for him to use his first ability. If he starts q, do the same. If he starts his dash, start W.

Darius can heavily punish many melee champions from across the spectrum (tanks, bruisers, melee assassins, other juggernauts, etc.), so youll find that most of his easy matchups are melee. Ranged opponents can give darius a hard time because they can exploit his kiting weakness.

Against ranged opponents, I recommend rushing defensive boots followed by phage. This allows you to very quickly close gaps and get an apprehend off. While ranged champions can exploit his kiting weakness, there isnt a single ranged champion in the game that can duel darius in his face early game.

My final tip (there are more but Im lazy) is that your apprehend can interrupt just about anything, from channels to dashes like zac's slingshot or ahri's dashes. It can interrupt short leaps like pantheon's stun or rivens Qs (recommend it for denying her final Q).

Ah what the hell heres another tip. Darius, like many other champions, has some animation cancelling. His prominent speed stack combo is AA > W > Q (do this really fast). If done correctly, youll barely see his W take place before the enemy gets hit and the Q starts to wind up.

TL;DR this guy is a fucking badass and makes you feel like one. It's like listening to Thunderstruck from AC DC when you play this guy. You can feel the power.

crippler381 votes

thanks for giving actual tips, I like darius but for some reason I don't play him enough.

won't lie when I first realized I can stop quinn's dash and yank her to me I felt like an idiot.

Getting in and out of fights on a whim is what I love to do.

also fun playin around peoples stuff, might be why I don't bother with yasuo/zed players.
