MY problem with ap (the scaling)

My BIG problem with ap is just on how hard it scales and the amount you can get. I think that there would be a good balance if you could decrease that intense scaling. Death cap it increases your ap by 40% and in addition to the initial 120 ap. I think if there was a nerf maybe like decrease the ap to somewhat around 100 and the 40% increase would go to somewhere like 30% or 25%. Now I also have a problem with void staff. if the magic penn went down to 30% or 25% (the same as the Death cap). also the scaling on every other ap item is just absurd. look at the base items amp tome and long sword AMP TOME HAS 20 AP WHILE LONG SWORD HAS 10. DOUBLE THE AP OVER AD. Ok I might get yelled at for this saying, "you're stupid", "you are a dumbass", or "do you even play this game?". Just listen look at sylas's healing and shields and it goes off of ap. you can get upwards of 1k ap (dependent on ur runes and build maybe even dragons) how much ad do you usually get playing kha? rengo? or maybe even zed? Ap scales way harder than ad and I just want like a minus 5 ap from amp tome (it seems more balanced that way), and just reduce the overall ap from ap items. ad doesn't get so high like ap and all I want is a general nerf to ap just decrease the ap gnerally.

It’s easy to forget why you get more AP than AD. You get more AP, because the AD ratios are usually higher than the AP ones. It’s not out of place to see a 70%-90% AP ratio in a champ’s kit, as it is also not out of place to see a 100%+ AD ratio in a champion’s kit.

Also, you might forget that auto attacks are free, undodgeable, point and click, repeatable high damage nukes. If you got deleted by that Lux , you had to have been hit by one of her spells. Can’t say the same for Rengar though...

Next, Attack Damage is more tied to penetration. For attack damage, people have access to:

  • item 3147
  • item 3142
  • item 3814
  • item 3071
  • item 3033
  • item 3036

Compared to

  • item 3020
  • item 3165
  • item 3135

My last point is that AD is more tied to defensive stats, and gains value over the course of the game, compared to AP. If you compare any AD version of an item to their AP version:

  • item 3022 vs item 3116
  • item 3071 vs item 3151
  • item 3078 vs item 3100

You can easily see that the AD version has more defense tacked on. AP is centralized around burst, and many champions are useless when they are on Cooldown. Ad champions can easily just continue to auto attack, and with their superior tank shredding capabilities, their higher longevity, and undodgeable attacks they eventually close out and win the game.

AP ratios/ amounts are fine where they are.

I think it is funny that the person from NA gave evidence but the person from EU just said "no" LUL
