Why did Riot kill the Tank Meta in Season 8?

Hey..

im quite dissapointed with the last Patch notes as Tanks got nerfed yet again.

At this point: Is there any Reason to play Tanks anymore? Tanks: -got their damage nerfed -got their health nerfed -got their gold income nerfed (all supports) -got their runes nerfed

Meanwhile a Yi who was dealing 60%+ True damage before now gets a Rune that deals an additional 20% True damage. What is the Point of this anymore? Is Riot trying to kill the Game?

Also fun fact: Statikk Shiv's only reason to build was to Split Push and Wave clear, now that the Wave clear is gone why do they keep it in the Game?

I prefer to deal with a Yi than a tank that sends you base without doing nothing!

I wish people understood why tanks were so relevant. Tanks are at their strongest when ADC is at it's strongest. (Which is even stronger when Supports are actually useful, such as the last year+) ADs needs a frontline to be able to safely be able to output stupid amounts of damage. Thus "tank metas", generally whatever AD can wipe out the other teams frontline faster wins the teamfight, which is why we have been seeing Tank Top and Junglers with Control Mage Mid laners and ADs with either Tank Peel Supports or Utility White Mage Supports. With ADs so strong and their supporting cast (Mids/Supports) also capable of peeling Fighters and Assasins off them so easily we see Tanks proveil over those other two classes, Tanks can engage and peel and don't die in the blink of the eye like Zed (Sin) and Lee (Fighter).

Once a true answer to ADs is buffed back up or ADC and/or Supports are nerfed we will continue to see Tanks prevail, even with the nerfs you mention, because in the end they will still be able to do the job they are needed to do. Tank, Engage, CC, and Peel. Tanks have been nerfed over and over and over again over the years and yet they still remain the most effective Class in a Bot lane driven game.

actually if you saw the changes to minion gold they are actually getting a buff if they learned the timing for it, and cannon minions. i don't see rune nerfs other than aftershock, and it's mostly removals on the situational resistance runes

p.s. the minion change hasn't happened yet but still if it goes through

they are also giving true damage and buffing cut down , the problem with riot is that they overnerf thing or overbuff them there is no in between

This is still a teamfight meta, not splitpush meta. Plenty of reasons to pick a tank. No more Tracker's Knife = more Fog of War = more face checking. Not instantly die to Crit/scaling ADCs (or mages). Hard CC.

Tanks ruin League as a competitive game. Cho / Mao / Nasus just sit there and there is NOTHING you can do with them unless they completely misplay. They render top lane a boring farm fest and they receive stats for literally doing NOTHING but farming.

Their kit is garbage so it has to be overtuned to the point where it is pointless even to poke them..nothing sticks. Also consider how in season 8 tanks can build literally anything (Nasus goes Sheen first) because their base stats are so high they don't even need tank items. If anything they should receive more nerfs..top lane is unplayable right now.

With conqueror being so overpowered against tanks and way too effective on the champions that use it top lane gets snowballed by champions like fiora, irelia, darius, etc. Then there's things like Illaoi who've been broken for a while in 1v1 and even team fight scenario and the newly redesigned aatrox that gets insanely spammable and frankly hard to miss cc on top of the healing and grievous wounds and better than zonyas ultimate.... tanks are NOT in the meta anymore because they are so easily countered with 20% true damage champs.... armor was put into the game in order to safegaurd against being instantly killed by squishies... and items were put there so that if u did get fed you'd atleast have to INVEST in tank shred stats.... not be given them for FREE!
