Getting into League again and really confused about ADCs, help?

ADC has always been my favorite role and it used to feel great! Now that I've returned to ranked, I actually feel incredibly useless as an ADC, as though I have very little control over the game.

In games where I play safe enough to not get blown up (which feels really difficult with flash/ult assassins), I do very little champion damage in the game stats. It's like I show up to a fight, bait the enemy from a distance, and wait for my team to kill them while I watch them try to kill me. I want to be more useful than a super minion that farms and helps take objectives. I want to do damage in team fights, but don't know how to achieve positioning where I can achieve high dps and also not explode.

So I was wondering if someone could tell me why I feel so useless, and what I can do to feel more useful? I remember when ADCs were threatening, but** I feel like assassins outclass them in almost every way (higher damage, more mobility)**.

Politely ask your support to stop going for the enemy ADC and to peel for you. If you can't even contribute to the fight, either your frontline is a sheet of glass and was shit on in lane, or your backline peel is dropping the ball.

ADC's are glass cannons. And they don't have enough burst to handle a mage or assassin unless their spells are on CD.

You must have your front line distracting the enemy, or your support to peel for you while you do your damage. Though if you really need self peel, try taking the red buff.
