Is ranked worth it for a casual player?

I'm constantly on the edge of wanting to play ranked but also feeling like it's not worth it since I'm too much of a casual player. At the same time I happen to be a support main who tends to be a lot more team reliant than other roles and I happen to not have any ADC main friends to duo queue with regularly.

Should I just stick to normals?

If you're looking to just chill out, have fun and not take the game too serious, then stick to normals.

Ranked is pretty much a competitive environment.

Unless you want to try for a silver+ border (you can get up to gold in placements if you do well enough) for your load screen, it's not worth it (quite stressful, unless you can treat it like norms in your head, but that's not easy). AND, there's a lot of 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Note that I probably don't belong in B5 which I'm in right now, I have 100LP after 10 games and I've been gaining like 25LP per win and losing 8LP per loss in those 10 games so perhaps Riot wants me to get out of Bronze, but I just couldn't be bothered until now

oh, so you did do your placements. Basically just weigh what you might get out of ranked (rewards, good feeling...umm, that's about it) vs the stress of trying to get just one more division.

When I took a long break from ranked in the Spring, I found I was enjoying the game a lot more because I didn't stress out if I lost. SO again, is a border or special skin or the knowledge that you are better than X% of other lol players important to you? If not, just play norms. TBH, the game play even seems better in norms. Almost like trolls ONLY play ranked or something.

it dont matter. play what you find is fun. if you wanna play rank and enjoy the game and have fun by doing so then do it. if you find it fun to play normals then just do that.

but you need to accept and realize ( as toxic as it is ) people are gonna belittle you for your thoughts and opinions if you dont play rank claiming you know nothing about the game. and if you arent at least gold in rank they are gonna belittle your thoughts and opinions for being low elo or "bad " as most put say about low elo players

so try to have fun , enjoy the game. and know people will find any reason to be toxic

This is probably the main reason why I wanted to do ranked. Being here since 5 years ago, I do a ton of research on everything I can to optimize gameplay for myself and others, so I have a ton of game knowledge, far FAR more than I have proper skill. If I were to judge myself to my knowledge and put that into play in ranked I'd get to probably high Silver or low Gold (to be generous). Essentially I'm a good theorycrafter but hey, no one gives about that nowadays

i gave up on rank 2 seasons ago...

i casual play the game for fun ... i dont have the time nor the care to grind rank games and try to climb. the best i got was back in season 5 was gold.

i know im not a high elo player. i dont have the physical means to have the mechanics , i dont have the time to put into it. like no joke for the this last entire season i play league cuz im bored, nothing on tv and dont wanna go anywhere typically too tired from work .

and 90% of the time im playing i am watching tv at the same time. but that is what you get when you have a tv angled just right and moved just far enough from the monitor you can see it and watch it as you watch the monitor.

oh now that its football season LOL league dont matter

HOW BOUT THEM BOYZ !!??!?!?!

What's your definition of casual?

mosaickle1 votes

It's a bit weird for me but it's mainly these two

  • Not ferociously competitive but still playing to win
  • Open to entire team trolling if 3 or more teammates are already

If you feels that your teammates aren't tryharding enough (knowing what they need to do but don't give a fk, sometimes even saying "normal bro") or you sick of players playing champs which they obviously suck at (they trying new champs) then go ranked or find yourself some players who tryhard and listen to instructions and try new stuff in normals

If by casual you mean playing what you want, when you want, then no it isn't.

Riot makes it more difficult for casual players to enjoy this game with each new season, like removing game modes and buffing popular champions for competitive play.

There are even people that want blind pick removed, which really would kill the casual playerbase.
