Any Garen tips?

So if I ever go top, I tend to play lane bullies like Gnar and Kennen. I used to have no issues whatsoever against Garen but ever since he was buffed and Triforce practically became a core item, I've never been able to win the lane matchup. Trying to force him out of lane seems impossible to me. Poking him will eventually just cause me to take too much damage from minions so I have to back off. Meanwhile he'll just heal right up via his passive. Even if I bush hop to reset minion aggro, any damage i do to him is just negated by his healing. In terms of freezing the lane, he can shove harder than I can so I'm never able to. Especially when he's building triforce and neither Gnar nor Kennen build attack speed items. Ganks would of course help, but it's solo queue we're talking about, and junglers can't always be relied on to gank sadly. If there are no minions, I can obviously win short trades. I can kite and get away from his Q w/ my dashes, and chase him down. But once he gets back to a wave or if I can't risk overextending, I have to back off and he heals back up. I can survive the lane, but I can't win it. So now that he's getting buffed even more in patch 10.4, I need to get some advice lol.

If he is running back to heal, he isn’t csing and you are winning, your mind set for Garen shouldn’t be about beating him if he doesn’t give you opportunities, just keeping him out the game is more then enough.

try to avoid his poke, start with refillable and try to play the long game. if you pick a champ that can work with it try to run a resolve tree so you too can be healed at opportune times. it might be silly, but you could consider biscuits and healing items from the inspiration tree. or you could get orb and try stay topped off while burning him over time. just remember garen doesn't have the drawbacks of mana or needing to recall to heal.

also, with the R dealing true and magic damage you might want to consider getting maw or steraks. lifeline can be a killer way to avoid his flash Q E R

I know you don't want to learn a new champion, but with the meta constantly shifting with updates, sometimes you just need to adjust. As it is, the best counters I've seen to Garen lately are Quinn and Cho'gath, both of whom need to keep their distance and poke a LOT. Or you could go with Darius as suggested above, or Teemo or Talon for that matter, and bleed him to death - keeping in mind that until late Talon and Darius might actually be able to get a kill out of it.

If you're going to stick with Kennen and Gnar, you need to adjust for counters like Garen, maybe even by building in some attack speed for autos so you can kite better. Adjusting your item build to your opponents is a necessary skill to learn anyhow.
