League auto balance

I remember reading in some forums about win rates and how league tries to balance out everyone in a team so that the combined winrate in a game for everyone is 50% or some stupid stuff like that? Is that true? Because I just got into my placements for the ranked season and won like 4 games in a row with great teams, like god everyone was on point. Then 4 losses later with teammates that felt like the game were unwinnable? Is this true, like after you get to a high winrate the game automatically matches you with worse people with bad winrates? I've never done so bad in placements before and my highest rank was Gn4 which isn't anything amazing but good for me. Not even going to lie here, with that last loss I wanted to ram my fist through my monitor and almost did (something I've never done). Just wanted to know or it's just bad rng. (Also, sorry if this is in the wrong thread)

Kind of, the games tend to try and match up MMR while also trying to make it more likely to win if you are on a losing streak by making your opponents lower rank.

I have a 78% win rate on my other account and get paired with people who have like 40-45% win rates.

I don't think your win rate is part of the equation.

It's MMR.

League tries to make every game have a 50% chance of winning. Yes this does mean riot will place an Iron 4 against a challenger if it sees fit.

It does basically try and force a 50% win rate. You have to be exceptionally bad or good to demote/climb.

Turned from a normal convo to an argument.
