How to lift Garen out of the dirt
Hello Summoners,
First something about me im a german, 20 years old and I am playing LoL actively since the beginning of Season II. Currently Im Platin V and my goal is to reach Diamond this Season (I dropped down from Plat II because of inactivity...school had a higher priority at the time). My first ever played Champion was Garen in a custom game. I played against a friend who showed me the game and he picked Teemo. Okey u know how that ended :DDD And yeah how could it be otherwise, since that day I hate Teemo ^^ Time has passed, 'reworks' were made, but I still love to play Garen, because hes one of these champions u can play in every mood and constitution. But something is wrong at the moment, in nearly every matchup Garen seems underwhelming. This is not because of giant nerfs on him its the current state of the game. The greatest pattern is the lack in movementspeed. Its the new triforce, which garen cant buy at all. Its the Rylais and Ludens Echo Meta. Casters were never as fast as they are now. These things are bringing Garen in a very bad spot and I sat down to think about some tweaks to Garen to bring him back to life and maybe, if my ideas come true, we will see him in the Worlds somewhen.
Goals:
- Keep Garens lowest skill levels as close as it is now, but increase the maximum skill potential
- Better clarification to set a good Garen apart from a bad
- Giving more support for his team besides a silence, a finishing ult and being a meatwall
- Giving enemys more ways to counter or outplay Garen
- Giving Garen more mobility besides a ms buff
- Giving the passive a use in tf
- Tweak the first levels of Judgment, currently it feels like auto attacking is much worther then using it
My Rework idea:
**P: Perseverance **
- After not being attacked for 10/8/6/4s Garen gains 0.25% / 0.5% / 1.0% max health regen p s
- Level 1/6/11/16
- at lv 16 garen gets + 1.0% Missing health regen p s
Q: Decesive Strike
- enhances next aa, aa reset
- 30% ms buff for 2.0/2.25/2.5/2.75/3.0s slowly decreases over the duration to min 15%
- dmg bonus 10/40/70/100/130 + 1.4 ad physical dmg
- silences for 1.0 second
- Ability cast time tweak (little faster)
- Aa enhanced Skill duration 4.5s
- CD: 7s at all ranks
W: Heroic Onslaught
- medium dash (like riven e)
- Garen gains 10% + 5% for every nearby champion (max 10 + 15%) dmg reduction for the next 1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0/3.5s
- If hitting an enemy Champion Garen stops briefly behind him
- activates passive, in addition getting dmg won’t stop the regeneration for the duration of % dmg reduction
Garen can activate W while E is active to do a special shorter dash with a bigger hitbox to gain bonus effects:
- E can´t be disrupted for the next 1.0s if hit by a cc
- also he will deal 15/30/45/60/75 + 8% bonus health true dmg and slowing hit enemys by 30% for 2s
- Garen can’t dash through walls
- CD: 19/16/13/10/7s
**E: Judgment **
- Garen spins 2 seconds
- ad and atkspeed scaling
- 6/13/20/27/34 + 0.2/0.225/0.25/0.275/0.3 ad + 1% dmg p 2% bonus atkspeed (max 50% atkspeed dmg multiplicator) dmg p tick
- (7 ticks, first at cast then all 0.33s, the last does double dmg)
- When attacking a single target +33% dmg
- Garen can cancel judgment early to unleash the double strike earlyer with less power (tick dmg × (1+0.125×ticks done))
- Range fix (matching aa range)
- Can crit
- Can be disrupted by stuns, silences, polymorphs, knockups(paired with a stun) or suppresion (im not sure what about knockbacks, personally i wouldn´t want them to cancel Judgment)
- Garen can usw W while E is active
- CD: 13/11/9/7/5s
R: Demacian Justice

If an enemy dies a second wave with more range emits fast after the first stunning all enemies hit for 0.5/0.75/1.0s

Notes:
- Gare would still be a noob friendly champ but with a higher skill cap and the opportunity to do plays
- New an better itemisation because of better atkspeed scaling
- Can be played as an assassin or a tank
- this kit gives more Support for Garens team with the new w and ult
- giving more ways to counter or outplay Garen
- new w would make his passive better in tf and isn’t so boring then a simple button press anymore
- changing the ult to a skillshot would bring beginners smoothly into the world of skillshots also you could do a misplay or your enemy outplays you
- In addition u could do a great and tf changing ultimate rather then a hey yeah ive got one ult
- These changes would change garen to the fastes of the juggernauts how hes suppost to be but wouldn’t make him borderline op because of new outplay mechanics
- Garens play style wouldn’t change much
- higher risk higher reward
- cool new EW combo
- Garen still have no chance to follow someone through a wall besides picking flash

(without items) New R lv 6 -> 100 + 10% max health + 0.2 missing health -> 1000 health = 100 bonus dmg -> 200 + 0.2 missing health dmg lv 11 -> 200 + 10% max health + 0.3 missing health -> 1500 health = 150 bonus dmg -> 350 + 0.3 missing health dmg lv 18 -> 300 + 10% max health + 0.4 missing health -> 2200 health = 220 bonus dmg -> 520 + 0.4 missing health dmg
Old R lv 6 -> 175 + 0.28 missing health lv 11 -> 350 + 0.34 missing health lv 18 -> 525 + 0.40 missing health
