Unusual Support That Worked
What's the most unusual support you've seen actually work out fairly well?
My surprise was when Illaoi first came out and saw her in support. I didn't think she could work there but good lord is she an annoying support.

CC for days.
CC for days.
I second this Sion support is really legit
Gonna have to add him to my support arsenal then.
I had a Sion support carrying the game when I was just practicing ADC.
That Ult helps too
Zac. The guy fucking HARD carried to boot. Unexpected and pleasant surprise.
Not surprised he'd be good. That blob is a pain when he ganks as a jungler.
the e harass and q silence is oppressive
Gonna have to try that out sometime.

Played it because I really wanted to play LB and some guy took mid at the very last sec to be a dick. Nuked Ez in lane repeatedly to zone him away. Used Chains a lot to peel for Ashe in fights. Worked like a charm.
An assassin in support? :O
Why didn't i think of that lol

The best CC is death.
Of course smacks head duh.
Wonder if Ekko or any of the other assassins would be ok as supports.....
LeBlanc support works thanks to her decently reliable snare (with her dash) and being able to chain it with her ultimate. Most other assassins don't have lockdown or team utility, which makes it hard for them to be supports. Ekko support is a little difficult but possible. Assassins like Akali or Zed has mediocre slow, so they don't work as supports.

To be fair, it worked because the enemy bot lane was squishy AF (Ezreal + pre-rework Soraka), the Ashe was decent and wiling to work with me, and the enemy bot lane clearly did not have any idea how to deal with LB. This was back when she had her silence, too, so she had a tad more utility than she does now. The silence could actually fuck up ganks and wombo attempts on Ashe.
It was lots of fun though I don't recall doing it ever again after because I thought it only worked due to beginner's luck :P not much of a LB player so if you're a skilled LB you can probably get better and more reliable results.
I played pre-rework Ashe as support too like back in season 3 and it worked okay. Poked a lot in lane with the crit passive (improved crit chance up to garen-teed crit if you didn't AA), helped kite a lot with Frost Shot and Volley, initiated and disengaged with ECA. Would probably be better now that her slow is built in and doesn't cost mana anymore, and supports legitimately get a lot more money to spend on items now than they used to. Could probably go
to share some gold with her ADC and compensate in farm later on.
Back in season 3 I also did some pre-rework Nidalee support. Although people on the boards loathed it because "no big power spike at 6 because no real ult", "noobs think traps are wards" (I didn't), "KS" "no CC", and so forth. I found she worked decently with poke-oriented ADC who had their own peel/escape to compensate her lack of CC and peel. Traps were a good addition and with smart warding involved, made the lane pretty much impossible to gank unless TP was involved. Super strong and safe poke (pre-rework Nid's Q hit like a truck), good sustain, good steroid on the sustain, good mobility around the map and decently safe warding due to Pounce. Did all right most of the time, stomped some games, probably would've done better had I been a better Nidalee to begin with. Not sure how post-rework Nidalee would fare, especially in the current meta.
Played Ori support once or twice. Mitigated success. Might be due to the fact that it was before season 4 so low income ward spamming bitch. Also might be due to the fact that I'm not a good Orianna but I can actually see her work. Same with Sejuani which I did once or twice, the meta is a lot kinder to tanks as supports that it was back when I tried it around her release.
In the current state of support champions anything that can poke decently and/or CC reliably is worth a shot as support. They're the only class that gets walked over this way, and Riot lets it happen because they just don't give a flying fuck. I _shouldn't _have to deal with Brand and Annie, and I shouldn't be losing to them as an actual support champion at equal skill level, but I do because their base dmg is just that insane.
Also this is an unpopular one but I think
has everything to be a support.
Zone enemies with ball Good poke Shield Speed boost/Slow Ball gives vision of bushes Ball can make getting cs a pain when you put it over your minions Good aoe ult for lane and teamfights
I occasionally go Orianna support. She has a slow early game as a support but once she hits 6, she let's them have it.
A lot of fun and great when comped with champs like MF or Jinx.
Not sure if it's still applicable, but one of the coolest gimmick lanes I ever saw a year or two ago was Zilean / Yorick.
You'd put your bombs on Yorick's ghouls as they suicide in, running down the enemies with explosions. You also get two revives in lane due to both of their ultimates. Super annoying to fight early game.
Another lane that shines:
Teemo / Cass. You start Cass with Twin Fang and Teemo starts his Toxic Shots or w/e. He poisons and Cass E spams since her E reset procs off poisons. It has kill potential at level 1.

Oh, this reminds me I did Cass support some times. Was fun. Played her poke heavy.
As for your set up, it was actually popular when she got released to pair her with Teemo or Singed. Couldn't you do Twitch/Cass and get the same potential with an actual ADC in your line up, though?
You could. I think Teemo / Cass has more carry potential, if only because Teemo is such a bully and would further shut down the bottom lane.
J4 is a great situational support
I guess the situational is if their adc is mobile like Quinn or immobile like Sivir.
But hey, Meat Shield??!! XD
Oh yes!
I found to be a great support as well try him out
EDIT: and
!
I love my Maokai and Gragas support. They are also quite fun. I also do Galio support but ppl seem to think he doesn't work there.
And i get kicked from ques in team builder when i role the Renekton support. That lizard can actually be a decent ad support.
Udyr. Start off with some double Q proc cheese to kill the enemy jungler or laner by waiting in bush, then go to lane with relic shield. Just sit in bush only leaving to use charges. Level W first and E second, no one will dare to move past the bush to cs. For engages, E support then carry, then drop a few Qs on carry. Crazy early damage with the DoT.
The crazy part is how well you teamfight. Jungle Udyr is usually an 'iffy" teamfighter because he can be somewhat squishy, but a full tank Udyr can dish out constant stuns. It's like an AoE stun every couple seconds, and it destroys teamfights. Throw in a triforce and you'll do damage too.
I actually have Udyr but have only played him in the jungle... Gonna have to try him in support now.
I main Miss Supportune
Imagine a Morgana that had an E with a bigger radius, higher range, higher base damage, faster ticks of damage and has a 60% slow. Overall she makes a much better lane bully, since she can ignore minions and cast it without Dark Binding while still getting the full damage and all three spellthief/frostfang procs off, though she is lacking in the cc department otherwise. She provides a lot of damage at least.
I like using ADCs as supports. I did Ashe before her rework by capitalizing on her slows, now i do Kindred because she isn't required to get damage as much IF she gets stacks, which is why i grab teleport.

So you make two people regret queuing up.

Two words: Crowd Control
I go tf supp worked the past 3 times I have done it . got my adc 6 kills in lane . not my problem we lost lol. Start e and max e first
It's probably not anything new - but a good lee sin support can be absolutely devastating and game changing.
