Where Are The Bruisers?

  • Top lane is either Tanks or Kennen Rumble Jayce

  • Jungle is either assasins Khazix Rengar or divers Hecarim Vi

Can we get a rework on item 3124 ? The only champion that builds it conistently is Kayle i know that bruisers are chammpions that deal consistent damage which contradicts the burst damage meta we are in to but these champions have been off meta for way too long.

DPS isn't flashy LCS worthy

Aren't divers basically bruisers?

Divers do belong in the fighter category, but the way they are played i dont think their kits revolve around regenerations and sustain, its true that vi has a shield passive when she engages and hecarim has a W from which he gains hp when he is close to enemies but i do not believe these abilities are vital enough to their kit or to the champions playstyle to be considered bruisers.if i were to classify these 2 i would classify them as initiators rather than bruisers.

Ok, so further question: What is a bruiser and what separates them from a fighter? Because I'm under the impression that bruiser and fighter mean the same thing.

1.A bruiser should have some sort of regeneration ability or lifesteal in his kit or build to give him sustain. 2.A bruiser should have consistent damage(low cd abilities). 3.A bruiser can have autoattack on hit effects that enhance his autoattacks. 4.A bruiser should have defensive stats by his build or abilities/passives. 1.A bruiser Can't have primarily burst damage kits.

So...juggernauts?

Sounds very much like Camille to me...

If you want a full list of champions that i believe are bruisers and are currently out of the meta, here you goAatrox Irelia Jax XinZhao MasterYi Trundle Some of them even now are in a good state like Trundle that saw some play in the LCS in season 6 and irelia who saw some play in solo queue but overall these champions dont seem to be much cared for by RIOT and they are the Bruiser bruisers.

Ok. Well for starters I think the classification of bruiser is out of date. In your list you have Divers, skirmishers, and juggernauts.

Now that being said, divers that aren't Vi or Hecarim are doing bad and their kits have some problems that cause unhealthy gameplay when strong (This is why Aatrox is constantly kept in shit tier). They'll get a look see in the diver update next preseason.

Darius is viable.

The problem with other Juggernauts/Fighters Nasus Garen Udyr Olaf Mordekaiser Is they are too many are still linear as hell. Meaning enemies cannot outplay them and they cannot outplay enemies. This means their entire power budget has to be loaded so if condition x is met they win. Otherwise they lose. Very few people want to play champions like that. So even if they received some slight buffs they would still be less common. It isn't worth investing yourself into 2 million mastery points on Garen because you won't gain much by doing so. Other than experience and practice at League in general.

Back to Darius. Darius in the rework was given tools to outplay his opponents. But they can also dodge his Q and Pull. Plus they can see his stacks and play around their mechanic. Thus Darius has a more healthy power budget. Darius is worth investing 2 million mastery points into. Because you have room for growth. But also his healthy power budget makes him viable in all/most tiers of play.

Darius and Illaoi are far healthier. Even if frustrating to face they have mechanics you can play around.

Shyvana mini rework helped her health but she still needs work Skarner is thankfully being reworked again to fix him

I honestly cannot figure out why some people defend linear designs but then complain about Ryze root and not having options to outplay less linear enemies. Just let your champion be reworked* like Darius and have something fun, viable and usable in all tiers. Who has options and non-linear counterplay.

*special exemption for Morde, Malz and Skarner mains. You can be scared of reworks.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised for a second juggernaut rework if not full VGU's for several "juggernauts".

Big Lincoln2 votes

with their current juggernaut philosophy all of them are doomed to fail

i dont believe champions like shyv, jax, xin, udyr etc can ever be viable as junglers without a return of a stacking devourer or at least special interactions with the jungle no matter how much riot changes them

Ralanr1 votes

Shyvana's latest rework did make her viable in the jungle.

h5LYF41Lam1 votes

players always try out new champions after a rework,it does not mean that warwick or shyvana were sucessfull reworks.

Ralanr1 votes

And why exactly is Shyvana and Warwick unsuccessful?

h5LYF41Lam1 votes

Regarding warwick i could tell from the start that the rework was never meant to bring the champion back to the meta but just to have one less thing to worry about when balancing the jungle. Firstly.Warwicks strong point used to be his jungle clear, the rework ignored that. Secondly.Warwicks early game is as weak as his early game prerework but without the compensation his ULT and W gave in the later stages of the game. Thirdly.Warwick lost his sustain to get some AOE fear in compensation. At the end of the day riot just didnt want a champion that can give AOE attack speed since it could break the game in the future.

Ralanr1 votes

His sustain is weak because it activates when he's at half health?
