Recent changes to resolve mastery tree, inconsistent choices

It's kinda weird that player is forced to choose between lane sustain (early game), especially versus poke. And a mastery which makes buying tank stats more gold efficient, obviously later game stage.

I mean, in general, if we look at other trees like Domination we see a trend of different masteries which all aim to improve similar aspect of the game, at least within same realm. Now the choice feels like it's between a metal wrench or chocolate cake.

Am I alone with this one? It's more difficult to set up and switch your masteries properly based on the situation you are facing. Wasn't such customization intended? Or just about setting the 'best' path way and grinding it up till the end of time or new meta as it does seem like push towards exactly this in my view.
