Questions on building items

I am level 24 but that does not mean i really understand everything about the game. What i would like to know is that when people post about its they get for champs do they buy the items directly or works from lower items and build them up during the game. I often see suggested items, but some of the times they list are quite expensive and i'm wondering if they wait till they have 2000 gold to get them or build them from smaller items? How do you build during the game? I prefer support champs mostly.

It's better to buy components over time rather than having nothing, so if you have a free chance to recall, and have the gold for something, go ahead and buy a part of it if you can instead of waiting. I wouldn't recommend recalling early on though unless it's absolutely necessary, or the enemy has already done the same and you have enough gold to get something. Just remember, recalling at full life with not enough gold to buy anything is fairly pointless. If your ADC has left, you're better off taking what CS and exp you can from the minions.

Think of it this way, you're buying a chicken, you can buy the whole chicken at once, but it will take you a few days of starvation. Or you can buy the chicken one piece at a time and have a meal each day. In conclusion, always buy component items when you can.

Also, an extra tip, is that you should check what these specific component items give you in terms of stats or passives. So you can choose weather to get item 3096 or item 2049 depending on the situation.

Reading item passives and stats will help you a lot in general, for example, you bought item 3083 in a recent game as Evelynn, but if you read its passive you'll know that its passive only activates if you have 2750 or more health, so it's better as a late game item for when you have that 2750 health to activate the passive.
