I enjoy playing adc alot, but all to often I'll end up having someone like ahri or lee sin, or some other less than desirable support. Who end up taking kills in lane and ruining your adc experience. Not sure what can be done about this, but something to make more suroka, sona , leona supps (a.k.a traditional supp's) better or more fun to encourage players to play them might be nice. What are your thoughts?
It sounds like you are far too caught up in who gets the kills. Sure, it helps, mathematically to have the extra xp/gold on the carries, but unless you are playing at the pro level.... here it comes, are you ready?..
It doesn't matter.
Being a part of the assist is good enough in almost every other game. People really need to look at the rest of the game and not just the kill number. Is the adc doing their part in buying/placing wards? If the adc's kills are less than the team kills, are they making up the difference in assists?
The support isn't just there to feed the adc's ego.
If support isn't fun for you, play with a friend or try new support champions. There is a huge variety of play styles in the role.
You mean getting 39 assists out of 42 kills on your team is not fun?
What I think?
Supports, specifically caster supports (Soraka, Janna, Lulu, Sona) are in an impossible position.
Why? They do not do well with or against ADCs, but the meta and Riot enforcing the meta forces them to stay there.
Think about it. What do ADCs have in terms of kit strengths? They all have lots of DPS, sustain through lifesteal, and most have harass. How do you beat that? What attributes are ADCs missing that would help them kill things better? The answer to both of those questions is CC and burst. Most caster supports either don't get hard CC until 6 OR their hard CC is almost impossible to use to start a fight. Also most of them don't have spectacular burst because they have at least one spell that does zero damage. Nami being the one exception and surprise surprise she's doing the best of the caster supports.
So what happens when people use supports out of bot lane, where they can actually take advantage of the parts of their kits that are kinda meh in bot lane? Well, the playerbase generally start complaining about how 'toxic' it is and then Riot either nerfs them (Lulu and Old Soraka) or reworks them so they lose a TON of power without a lane partner (Sona and new Soraka), both of which feel horrible.
