The problem is leadership and communication. There is no leadership on the board to quell worry, and no communication to show a plan.

If Riot had a dedicated public relations member, similar to a Press Secretary, it could ease worry by giving quick, decisive leadership and explanations so topics don't get too far out of control and respond directly to questions instead of a side comment. This is assuming that Riot internally can come to a consensus on how they want to proceed in short order. This could be as simple as, "We have heard your concerns and are looking into the issue" to a detailed plan.

If Riot does go with the Press Secretary route, hide the votes for their official posts from the publics. This way people will vote more based on their opinion instead of just jumping on the down votes. Riot can then review the votes internally if they so wish.

The second thing is that Riot says they have a number of goals on how long a project will take internally, but completely neglects to mention the time frame they have set for themselves, instead mainly saying "soon". When Riot has a big project, tell us what the time frame will be, when they expect to show results, and if or when they overshoot, give a heads up on what happened and how much further they think it will be. If a project ends up being canceled, inform us within the same week so people aren't left guessing and only find out much later that it had been canned.

All of this should be done in a high view area, either the launcher, the home menu of client, and/or leagueoflegends.com. Perhaps a state of Riot/League, if you will.

The more people are left in the dark, the more worried or panicked they become, the more they lose trust.

TLDR: Riot needs to give clear and concise answer quickly to problematic events so they don't grow out of control, and keep the community in the loop for how long their projects are planned to be and if they go over schedule.

I'm more upset at how quickly they can gut a champion when they threaten the enforced meta. Veigar, Zilean and Cass (more too I can't recall) were given swift decapitations with the promise of fixing them one stitch at a time over the course of the next millennium, but the changes NEVER address the issues with the characters, they just frontload power onto the character's "defining" ability until the winrate crawls up from 20% and call it good. I'd rather they take the time to do the full rework than launch one that's 30% complete.
