I've played with against and as pantheon a bunch. It seems to feel like some peoples skyfall takes almost no time from use to drop. Where others, myself included takes forever to drop. Can someone explain?

You may be watching the indicators. When you first channel your jump, you see a circle form, indicating where you'll be landing. This is an indicator that you (And I think your team) can see but not the enemy team. The indicator that the enemy team see's only begins to appear after Pantheon is in the air, during the short window before he drops.
