Don't Fix it if it Isn't Broken
I usually like to stick around Memes and Games(all hail King Laughing Fish and Lord Malicious Metal!), but this has been building for a while. My jimmies are a bit rustled.
I really hate it when Riot changes champions that're perfectly fine to begin with. Prime example? Shen.
His kit was healthy, he was balanced as he was, and fairly fun. Then they reworked him...
Don't get me wrong-- I love to see an old champion get new shine and some time in the limelight. Ryze's newest rework actually feels balance able, easy-ish to pick up(for a beginner champ), but hard to master, and I loved Poppy's(got her to mastery 7 after the rework). However, the difference between Poppy, Ryze, and Shen were that they either
- Were very hard to balance
- Had an uninteresting look/lore
- Or both.
Shen? He didn't feel boring(not to me, at least), his lore was interesting, and his kit was balanced. The most he would've needed was a VU, not a full blown rework. Although his rework did make him a better dueler, he doesn't feel like the same champion. And, to Riot's credit, they've admitted the rework did not hit the goal thematically. Now's he's getting nerfed for Worlds despite feeling weak as hell.
Another example would be Vel'Koz. He was one of the most balanced champs on release. They make a balanced champ either too weak for starting players or broken for the good Vel's. They had to revert it a few patches into the update.
So, in ending, Riot, I love you to bits, but please stop fixing champions that don't need it.
