Was maokai even dominant this season?

I wasn't expect victorious maokai, cause I don't even expect maokai in my games ever. I even went to check his pick rate, ban rate, and winrate, and he's not even in the top 10 out of any of those in any particular patch.

I love how I played about every single champion in the game and the only one I never locked in as is the one I'm getting a victorious skin for...

Meanwhile 900k on elise and I didn't play in season 3 for a skin. I get these are reward skins that are meant to be shown off but I literally haven't seen a maokai once this season... not even joking I've never seen one except for one of my friends who trolls with AP maokai...

I'm happy for mao mains, but with minority they are this just feels so weird giving everybody this single skin. Atleast in season 1 people played jarvin, in season 2 people play janna, in season 3 elise was cancer and played, season 4 morg was played, season 5 sivir was played and dominant is worlds, season 6? Out of all the champions that were strong throughout season 6 or atleast a majority of it:

Free skin is a free skin but I still can't shake the salt I'm having for owning victorious maokai over any of the other 5 victorious skins. :/

So weed can be victorious but graves can't have a cigar?
