Having forced smart-cast on makes these champions INCREDIBLY difficult to play.
Not everyone who plays your game is competitive and religiously knows the range of these spells.

If you have range indicators, this shouldn't be a problem...
Just for clarification, Smart-cast is when you activate the ability, markers appear that display the range for an ability to be cast, while Quick-cast is then the ability is activated, the ability is instantly cast.
And yes, I agree, I was playing Karthus for the first time in an ARAM once, but was not able to correctly judge the cast range of my q.
