Dealing with ping issues

Is the best way to deal with ping on the east coast really just to ruin it for the west coast players? I know that on the east coast ping has been an issue for a while, but the right way to fix it shouldn't just have it switch. I, personally, jumped from a constant 70 to 180. That really sucks. I'm sure I'll eventually adjust, but why can't we have two servers?
