Lets talk about tanks
League is a game that has its distinctive roles. We have 3 lanes and one jungle. We have your usual AD carry with its support, we have the sneaky jungler, the bursty mid and the tanky top lane. All these roles create a team. But there is one role I want to specify and really talk about, the tanks, usually the top laner.
What is a tank? I don't mean the war machine with a cannon, I mean the role in the lovely game of League of Legends. The purpose of a tank is to take the damage like a mother's beating and to engage teamfights. Most of the time they take a long time to kill, but that's the point of their lives. Sometimes they can even create a divide in the enemy team during a team fight. Now let's talk about what a tank isn't supposed to be. A tank should not be immortal. A tank should not be able to deal more damage than the AD carry. A tank should not be able to have both previous points as stated before. There are way too many tanks in the game that can go super tanky and deal way too much damage than they're worth.
I can already hear someone telling me, " Come on you bimbo monkey, just kite him to death with your AD carry [zombie-brand-facepalm] ". While yes, that's what you're generally supposed to do [slayer-jinx-unamused] . Sadly the {insert role} just killed you because he closed the gap and the AD carry dies due to him being such a squishy role [zombie-brand-clap] . Now that you lost your AD carry, the team falls apart and tries to run away from the high speed, unkillable, high damage dealing tank. (some exceptions of AD carries can vary)
Here are some tanks that I think are way too overpowered:
Cho'gath
Maokai
Rammus
Jarvan
Malphite
Garen
Darius
Warwick
Nasus
Renekton
Sejuani
I know some of these tanks on the list are overpowered with whatever scaling type of ability/passive, but they're overpowered by it nonetheless, then again, this is a discussion from my own personal views and opinions so if i'm wrong about something or there is some way to counter this, I'd love some feedback.
and kills me anyway.
