Mordekaiser's Rework may have not turned out too well, but the idea behind it shouldn't die.

When Mordekaiser was reworked, he was set to be on a duo lane, placing him in the ADC role. I find the idea amazing, I really liked the fact that there was a Bruiser in Bot Lane, and the idea can work very well, as there are Marksmen champions who can go top lane or jungle. It'd be really cool to play one game against a normal marksman on bot lane, and bruiser on top lane team comp, and in the next one have a bruiser on the bot lane and a marksman in the top lane, and after that a mage in the bot lane and a marksman in the jungle. What do you guys think though? Should Riot support the idea of non-Marksman champions being played on duo lanes?

the idea might have been ok, the execution was terrible. The way they went about getting morde to be on bot lane was to essentially make him be ahead of the duo lane all the time and overload the heck out of his kit to the point he will just snowball and oneshot everything... unless he gets behind and becomes completely worthless... that were the ONLY two options for him there was no middle ground

Everything that was playable on bot until now that wasn't a marksman turned out terrible - Morde rework, or Jarvan-Leona combo few years back than.

After scrapping Mordekaiser rework Rioters said that other classes simply don't work well in 2v2 lane. I suspect it's because of extreme kill potential - marksman, generally speaking, are bad at killing people without heavy set up. Other classes are not, due to their supreme burst and/or cc. When they have a support near them, it becomes silly game of who lands a stun first. Mordekaiser was best shot, since he has neither, but it still failed, so I don't expect any more attempts to bring melee champions botlane. I could imagine some sort of low-cc dps mage playable there, "AP marksman" of sorts, but that doesn't really achieve anything.
