Ranked matchups - broken?

I am playing ranked for the first time, just played my 5th promo game. I literally hit 30 less than 2 months ago. In that game, I was matched with all Silver, one of them was Silver V and the rest were II and III. I screwed my team by not being nearly as experienced of course.

My previous 1 or 2 ranked games went about as poorly, but I didn't check the other players ranks. I'm guessing it was something similar. Why is this happening? Should I just crash through 5 more ranked games not caring so I can start at the bottom in bronze V and figure out how to play the game better?

Your promo games, (ESPECIALLY your first ranked season), matter a lot more in terms of adjusting your MMR (your "matchmaking rating" - a hidden value which determines what rank your opponents are).

I experienced the same thing my first ranked season in Season 4. I lost almost every game and was placed into Silver 4. I continued to lose until I settled into Bronze 4. Then I started to climb.

You'll settle into the elo you belong, and just strive to get better and don't get frustrated!! Always think you deserve the elo you have.

unranked have the mmr of silver 4, because this is (or was) where most players are stuck (most players are stuck in silver 5 right now) it doesnt matter if you end up in plat or in bronze. in the end you have to improve yourself and you will climb on your own.

Hello welcome to ranked for the last 6 years. Every new season and every new player / account starts with an invisible ranking of Silver 3 and you play from there.

You don't like it because you play against people much better than you and your teammates certainly don't like it because you shouldn't be there and now they have a handicap.

Always try. Just know it sucks for everyone. This is what happens when you continue to hire idiots straight out of school without any actual real job or project experience coming up with ideas for a billion dollar game. Leadership is fine with it. For some reason we still play and their stock value keeps rising.
