play top, mid, or jungle over adc as it is one of the worst roles to climb with this season compared to other roles due to the impact of games being shorter

have a higher than 55% win rate.

As to how to achieve a higher than 55% win rate: -Win lane and snowball -Take dragon and barons -Take towers when you kill someone -Don't be a pussy and take smart dives -Avoid trading one for one. In general, I value my life more than the enemy's so I avoid trading one for one.

Not even. I have a 48% overall... and I'm Gold 5. You just have to do all those other things, but you don't HAVE to have a high winrate even though it does help.

Think about what you just said.

A lower than 50% percent win rate means you lose more than you win. How can you climb if you lose more than you win?

You get a couple of free loses every time you hit a new rank.

But you cannot climb if you have a less that fifty percent win rate.

You lose more than you win. That means you can never climb because you will never win more than you lose. If you win the same amount of lp and lose the same amount of lp, you cannot climb.

I JUST said you get a couple of free losses when you gain a rank. Say you go from bronze 5 to bronze 4. You lose like 2-3 games. You lose no lp. Because you are at 0-lp, and are shielded to prevent you from getting instantly demoted due to luck. Then you win some, lose some. But win a bit more You would have climbed, even if you lost more. Because when you lost, it didn't matter.

Also, depending on mmr you could gain 25 lp on a win but only lose 15lp on a loss, thus climbing by just going 50-50

A grace period lasts only so long. At the end of the day the grace period is not going to decide if you are going to climb or not but ur win percentage. Again, how can you win if you lose more than you win? If you lose more than you win, you should be at 0 lp indefinitely. That is until you lose your grace period and then drop down to a lower division.

When you keep losing, your mmr is hurt, and you start gaining less and less lp. Even up to the point where you lose more lp than you gain lp. Because you are losing more than you are winning, your mmr is getting tanked and it will be much harder to climb.

EDIT: Also if your losing more than you are winning, do you deserve to be at a higher elo? You clearly don't because if you do deserve a higher elo, you should be winning.

Not necessarily true, you have to take into account how many games the player has played and what their MMR actually is.

I started playing last season's ranked games a week before the season was up. My MMR indicated I should be around Gold 4, but when I was playing was alongside a lot of people tanking games, raging, etc. I'd lose 13 LP and gain 25 for a win, so even with a sub 50 win rate I was in gold promos.

Your mmr is much higher than people in your elo. But if you are losing more games than you are winning, your mmr is being tanked. When your mmr is being tanked, you will start winning less lp and start losing more lp. You need a higher than a 55 percent win rate because if you are below a 55 percent win rate, it means you are losing more than you are winning, and thus your mmr is being tanked.

You do when you've played more games. When you just start out you can easily climb with a lower than 50% win rate.
