Perhaps? Mages complain enough, nothing happens. Assassins are allowed to continue doing what they want. Lethality a big problem. No Item Balance.

I mean there is a lot of Mages that are being played supports now lol 
are all mages that is probably seen more support now than mid. Even though I still personally play Vel'koz mid but some times it feels I'm the only one.
They dont "force" mages into support but...
By way of itemization being very heavily utility oriented and AP assassins being transformed into skirmishers with utility, riot wants the traditional mage to be less a carry and more an auxiliary without saying so and very slowly so we dont notice as much and complain until its to late.
