Why are blitz/thresh bruiser top not a thing?

You cant deny they both have what it takes to be a bruiser, their utility is perfect for it.

Ive played blitzcrank top a few times as bruiser and let me tell you he wrecks, yes he doesnt have the same sustain early, but the moment he hits 6 his damage potential shoots through the roof and youll easily win trades even against riven, not a single sane riven will want to trade with you close to your tower because of your grab knockup and before that youll be W buffed slapping her while lightning bolts make nice tattoos on her back.

What about thresh, he can build tanky and still get a shitton of ad just from picking up his souls, so combined with black cleaver and the rest tanky you will probably wreck every top opponent in terms of damage even early.

Thoughts?

(no im not saying these champs will 'DEFETE THE METAH' but i think they can be very valuable as top champs.

Thresh is mostly magic damage - even when building AD. About 2/3 of an AD thresh's damage is magic, which is why AD thresh buys sorc shoes, not greaves. You would never build cleaver on him; his only method of applying the cleaver stacks is through autoattacks, which only hurt as much as they do because of souls/the windup charge, which does... yep, magic damage.

Thresh top is a thing that works, but only against certain lane opponents. If they 1) are melee, 2) don't have much sustain, 3) don't have a targeted gap closer, and 4) aren't named riven, you can probably win lane. If any of those are true, you're gonna have a hard time. Thresh top relies on his flay to disengage against most top laners, while he AA chunks them with impunity. Thresh doesn't get into prolonged fights, nor does he trade. He just pokes you and flays you away before you can do anything. If you're ranged, you can poke him; if you have sustain, you can just farm; if you have a targeted gap closer, you can force a fight with him and at least win the trade; if you're riven, you're f'ing riven and you're going to shit on him. It's just an incredibly niche pick that doesn't work against most meta top laners.

Critzcrank doe. 350% AD ratio on his E if it crits. Pretty nasty.

I've tried Thresh top a lot and his damage and tankiness are really kinda weak. He gets some powerspike by building AD : his E charged passive hurts a lot more, but he scales quite poorly with it. Ideally to have a synergy kit, you want a lot of tankiness and for the souls, you want tankiness, attack speed and magicpen : something along the lines of item 3091 item 3083 item 3143( item 3102 oritem 3001 )item 3153 ? But he just takes way too much time to scale up with souls. It's like... imagine if Nasus only got 1 stack if he lasthits a minion. That's a bit how Thresh feels like, he ramps up too slowly for his scaling to be relevant as a duellist. Fortunately, because that would make him op as a support otherwise, since he doesn't need to lasthit to get souls.

Blitzcrank is actually a reasonably strong top laner (he was designed for there after all). Thresh significantly less so.

The thing is, why go into a solo lane and take 1/4 of your teams income, when you can do your entire job from the bot lane and not take any of your teams income?

Not only do they both do their job well with limited gold, but having someone else to capitalize on you landing a hook makes the character as a whole a lot stronger.

i have seen top lane blitz, jungle blitz and mid lane blitz.

they were all excellent choices. just really dependent on those hooks.

I think the main issue is that there are other champions who can use the farm better. Blitzcrank and Thresh don't particularly need farm or levels to be useful due to the utility provided by their kit so it may be preferable to stick a farm or level-reliant champion (i.e. Jax, Irelia, Fizz, Riven, Hecarim, etc) top lane to let them scale into monsters.

Obviously, if you can make top-lane Blitzcrank and/or Thresh work for you, go ahead. It has the definite advantage of your opponents not actually knowing the match-up and the ability to set up very strong ganks when coordinating with your jungler.

Thresh is just too squishy early on. I am pretty sure every real top would out-trade him and shut him out of souls, keeping him squishy. He has the same weakness in bot lane, but it is less of a problem because your good cc allows your adc to get good damage off before they can hurt you too bad.
