What ever happened to the "pinging ward" idea?

I remember reading that RIOT was going to put a ward on the PBE that pinged the map with a sound to let players now that enemies are visible. does anyone know what happened to that?

Personally, I think it would help out lower elo players a bit with map awareness, but I also think it would ruin higher elo strategies. Anyways, anyone know about it?

I could be completely miss remembering but I feel like it got turned into wolf. Guessing the issue was something along the lines of 5 enemies walking towards baron through half a dozen wards and the team would be too busy turning down their volume to play.

Shaco would get a lot more annoying. You think you're being ganked.. But it's just a clone eating up the gold you spent.
