Control wards no longer offer true vision?

So I was playing a ranked game as Evelynn jungle, no big deal and the enemy mid laner was Akali. I remembered when I used to main Akali, and use her twilight shroud to hide from enemies for a bit, and a simple control ward would be used to reveal my location. However when I used the same tactic, it did not reveal akali in the twilight shroud. So i am wondering when did Control Wards no longer offer True Sight? The Akali main in me is happy now, however it is a bit ludicrous to remove that buff from the control ward, as there is really no reason to buy them except to counter an enemy Evelynn. As i understand it, Shaco also can only be revealed by true sight, and same with the Kha'zix, and Vayne.

Maybe i am in the minority here, but i think that is a bit op, as it makes fighting those champs in the jungle neigh impossible unless you have an aoe ability. Mind you i won that game (Ashe stopped her lagging spree and came back fast and hard), so i'm not crying or upset, just curious as to when the sudden change to the control wards occurred.
