Why does flash bounce off walls...wtf?

I've been playing a lot of shaco lately and I like to start by stealing blue. I take flash to do this, and sometimes it's warded and about 50% of the times I try to get away cause I have an entire team descending on me, and since I'm in bronze my own team never backs me up, flash will bounce off the wall, even though I'm standing right next to it.

Why does it go off if I can't make it, what's the actual range of flash? This seems almost like a bug to me. It doesn't make any sense.

You can mouse over Flash to see its range; it's pretty short. However, blink abilities like Flash when directed over a wall, will place you on the closest side to the point you cast at. If the range reached at least halfway through you'll go to the other side. If it wasn't even halfway (you aimed wrong or the wall was just too thick) you'll not go through.

This logic applies to Wards as well, which is good to know for safely warding many areas. I recommend pulling up the Practice Tool (Beta Client only) and practicing your wall Flashing.

Go in Practice mode, turn on the instantly refresh cooldown thing and just keep trying to flash that same wall untill you have the muscle memory to do it right ^^

Its something you have to practice. Some walls can be pretty difficult to flash over.
