Tank Twisted Fate?

I recently read the thread about gangplank, and it made me wonder if for a laugh, twisted fate could build tank and go top lane?

think about it, the only thing twisted actually lacks compared to gangplank is a few base stats and our favorite source of Vitamin Sea(pun intended)

his ult might not be global, but it could fairly easily punish mid, he has a targeted stun, he has AOE ranged damage (though he lacks the surprise factor for it)

of course , there is also the option of more bruiser than tank so that he can deal more damage but it varies with AP being his primary stat

it's crazy, but what's another ranged top laner/mage top?

thoughts? opinions? crazy shenanigans? ~~~death threats(please scratch that one off he list)~~~ , humorous meme's ? what else is there?

Tank TF really doesn't give your team any benefit.. Why not play him AP and utilize his AP scalings? What is a Tank TF going to do that an AP one wouldnt?

maintain his utility role, use some of the other AP items such as Rod of the Ages or liandri's torment, open mid lane for a higher damage carry, have consistent DPS not always reliant on poke damage.

There is also the fun factor if it can work

it just requires some testing

I can tell u ive tried it and I was just a stun bot.. U have no damage and u dont apply enough cc.

If ur going roa/liandries then ur not going tank. Ur just building health ap items.

well, yes, it would not be true tank. I mentioned that it would have the option of being a bruiser instead of a tank and it makes more sense to do so, but the potential is there for either

I don't see anything wrong with "bruiser ap items" on TF.. In some situations it could be very beneficial. (like vs tankier enemies)

I tried something like that on ARAM. Though what I had was more a Bruiser build than a tank build. Mainly I was combining the HP from haunting guise/Liandry's with Warmorgs, to get the regen. (In a previous game, I was taking too much poke, and gun blade sustain was insufficient)

Really I was only semi Tanky, Tanky enough to take a modest amount of poke, while otherwise focusing on damage.

did it have any interesting results in that match?

though by ARAM's "fast" playstyle, it's harder to judge effectiveness

although the basic concept is there. Instead of him being focused on burst damage, he would have better sustained damage, right?

I wouldn't necessarily say better sustain damage. (perhaps in the sense that he lived longer and got off more rotations)

Mostly I just made off with Luden's echo and Lich bane, in order to maximize his burst with the fewest items. (which would fall off damage wise) But that was enough against the enemies squishier targets.

Building Warmorgs in ARAM is generally a smart option, as it makes up for the inability to recall. I've been doing it on an increasing number of mages, mainly those with shorter range. And with the reduction in the threshold for Warmorg's, it's easier to achieve when combining it with other HP/AP items, whether that be Liandry's, Crystal Scepter, or RoA.
