Mordekaiser - A new approuch
Hello,
The Mordekaiser rework feels like it completely missed the point; "Forcing" Morde in the bot lane with gimmick abilities and passives (pet drake, bonus xp), completely destroyed his solo lane capabilities and made his duo lane unfun to play against. He wins his lane by being in lane (getting ahead level wise). Furthermore the power of his abilities seems off, with most of his power in his third Q hit.
Mordekaiser needs a second small rework which changes his kit in a way that it can be played in a solo lane, but has an advantage in a duo lane without gimmick abilities or passives. To achieve this I would like to discuss a kit around a changed W. I have left the numbers out of it, because it’s a concept to show his kit interaction and less a finished design.
**Harvester of Sorrow **
Mordekaiser targets an allied champion surrounding the ally and himself (can be self casted) with a metal cloud. If an enemy or an ally champion gets in the cloud it will spread to them. Furthermore his other abilities get a secondary bonus if it hits a champions affected by Harvester of Sorrow. Allies affected by the cloud gets a buff, enemies a debuff.
This new W is Mordekaiser bread and butter; his abilities gets additional affects if it hits a target affected by Harvester of Sorrow. Because of this sending Mordekaiser to a duo lane has one large advantage; a partner with an engage tool to spread Harvester of Sorrow to the enemy champions. Otherwise Morde has to walk to the enemy to spread it, which might be a challenge without any form of CC or dash. But it can be done; his whole kit has the same effect in a solo lane as in a duo lane.
His whole kit could look something like this (it’s just my personal suggestion, could be something completely different).
Passive: Iron Man MordeKaiser shields himself for 12.5% of the damage dealt by his abilities, doubled to 25% against enemy champions and capped at 25% maximum health. Siphon of destruction also generated an additional 3.75% maximum health shield per enemy champion hit. Iron man’s shield decays at a rate of 1.5% base health per second down to a minimum of 6.25% of his maximum health (nothing changed here)
Q: Mace of Spades Mordekaiser’s next three auto attacks deals extra magic damage, with each subsequent attack dealing a multiple of the previous damage. Hitting a champions affected by Harvesting sorrows sends out Spades to surrounding enemies, dealing the same extra magic damage as the initial hit. Damage or multiplier reduced.
W: Harvester of Sorrow
Passive: Mordekaiser always gains full experience towards levelling up from minions he kills(removed) First active: Mordekaiser targets an allied champion surrounding the ally and himself (can be self casted) with a metal cloud. If an enemy or an ally champion gets in the cloud it will spread to them. Furthermore his other abilities get a secondary bonus if it hits a champions affected by Harvester of Sorrow.
- Allies affected by Harvester of Sorrow has bonus armor and magic resist
- Enemies affected by Harvester of Sorrow has reduced armor and magic resist
Second active or after Harvester of Sorrow times out: All the enemies and allies affected by harvester of sorrow explodes dealing damage to all the enemies in Harvester of Sorrow and healing allies inside Harvester of sorrow. Overlapping Harvester of Sorrows has a reduced effect (something like 20% of the original). Damage/healing shouldn’t be to high, and scaling from AP only.
E: Siphon of Destruction. Mordekaiser deals magic damage in a cone in the target direction. Hitting a target (enemy and ally) effected by harvester of Sorrow, triggers the explosive part of Harvester of Sorrows (both healing and damage part), without consuming the spell (so you can get multiple explosions during one Harvester of Sorrow). Current damage seems fine.
R: Children of the Grave
Passive – Dragon force: Mordekiaser’s basic attacks and abilities curse the dragon for 10 seconds(removed) Mordekaiser curses the target enemy champion or dragon, dealing them magic damage and healing for the damage done. He then applies the same effects to the target again over the next 10 seconds. If the enemy is affected by Harvester of sorrow the second effect (the damage over time) deals true damage (might be a bit too good, but considering harvester of sorrow only lasts 4 seconds, the total true damage shouldn't be that high). Current damage seems fine.
This kit seems to me as a more fun to play, and fun to play against kit then the current one. The gimmick passives have been removed or changed (XP one completely removed, drake pet is still there but he has to use his ult on the drake itself and kill it in 10 seconds) and his kit has changed in a way that everything is usable in a solo lane, but with a large advantage if combined with an hard engage duo laner, like Tresh/Leona/Braum/Allistar. Furthermore if the numbers are done nicely, it could open up different built paths; The current bruiser Morde, more focused on his Q damage and being in the middle of the enemies team, and the AP Morde, focused more on Harvester of Sorrow explosion and Siphon of Destruction damage and staying more behind the frontline of his own team.
