What if I told you that in ranked games you could only play champions with whom you have achieved rank 2 mastery? I grow tired of queue'ing up picking a role and then in the middle of the game "gg first time ______". It doesn't make sense that people do that, but they do. But we have a way to prevent it now.
I like it. Ranked isn't the place to orient yourself to a champion. Masteries themselves are a joke in my opinion because I've seen level 5 "masters" feed harder than first timers, but at least this would force people to have some idea of what they are doing.
I've said that countless times already:
Champion Mastery, in it's current state, is a complete garbage that should not - under any circumstance - be used for determining people's merits in any way or form, especially in ranked.
And you think that it means anything? I've seen a guy who had 1200 ranked games with Fiddlesticks last season and could not play for shit.
It's not about how many times you played a champion. Hell, from personal experience, I could buy a completely new champion, queue for ranked right away, then read ability descriptions on my way to the lane and you'd not be able to differentiate me from a guy who played, shoot, 50 games with the same champion.

Not a terrible idea. It is not actually that hard to get to level 2.
rank 2 is too low, 3 at least. hate all you want but 3 is not hard to get by any stretch of the imagination.
