What the **** is wrong with the MMR?

I've been playing ranked, games. i've gone 8-2 in provisionals and since then have had some really bad luck with teams, or dc's etc. and haven't been doing so hot, which is fine i understand there is cold and hot streaks. But my problem is with the LP that has been lacking from wins. Every loss has been 20+ LP ( highest at -29 LP ) and win have been highest at +16lp and lowest at +11lp. this means if i were to win 66% of games i would only climb 19lp every 3 games. IF i get a lot of LP ( a lot meaning 16 ). What is wrong with this system? With numbers like this it isnt possible to climb rank. i just want to know if anything is going on.

You're losing more points in a loss than you're gaining in a win because your hidden MMR (match-making rating) is below your current league placement. If you consistently win, it will climb until you're getting similar points for wins/losses, or even to the point where the opposite happens and you gain many points for wins and lose very few for losses.

It's a common misconception that the ranked queue pairs you with opponents who are of the same league as you (i.e. silver1, bronze3, gold2, whatever)...it's actually MMR that determines who you are playing against. This is why a gold5 player who continuously loses will eventually be matched against silver players, or a platinum1 player who continuously wins will start playing against diamond players (and probably get promoted).

If your MMR drops and you're playing people below your current league placement, you lose more points in a loss because, if you "belong" at your current league, you were expected to win and the game is sort of considered an "upset" for the other team. Essentially, the game system "thinks" that you are in a higher league than you belong at the moment.

Just keep winning and it will turn around. Given that you went 8-2 in placements, this isn't that unusual.

Do you have a negative W/L ratio?

That could be why.

I have the same issue... I dropped to s5 from s2 this season already

It's pretty simple man. Every season they start everyone in Plat 1 or lower. This causes it to be difficult to climb to your end of season elo early on. However, by the end of the season they make it quite easy for you to climb.

It's a simple psychological process to make sure all players believe they are climbing over the course of the season.

Yeah i have a negative win/loss now.. and that still makes no sense. cuz say 1 of 3 games i am forced to support. all lanes lose because i simply have no impact on the game, yet im suppose to win it because of my elo. that makes 0 sense at all. some games u cant carry or your team are too scrub to allow you to carry. its a team game ranking you upon things that have nothing to do with ur own team
