Balance to Leaguers playing for fun vs competitive play

I'm a type of guy who enjoys getting better at a game. When i win i'm having fun, when i lose... not so much. The biggest problem I find (in normals) is the cross between these two. Where the people just having fun, aren't trying to get better but just playing to have fun, intertwine the ones who want to get better and try to perfect their every move. The people who are trying to have fun, find it as " complaining " when someone corrects their play. While the one trying to get better is just trying to be a teacher and discuss strategy ( they do say one of the best ways to learn is to teach ). then the one trying to get better is labeled as a " try hard " which i find as a redundant statement because we're all trying hard to win... or should be, if we aren't then there isn't a reason to play in my eyes. And the " try hard " gets heckled, and gets reported for his or her original statements of oh you shoulda flashed the stun or grouped or w/e....

Then the "fun havers" go and say " why don't you go play ranked if you're gonna try this hard " and thats because i have the right to get better with a champion before i play it ranked... But no, im the bad guy for trying to a win a game.

Suggestion -------- For "balance" of the game. is to make a game where you can lose IP if you lose ( as in negative amount of IP ), and win IP if you win ( a large sum larger than draft / blind picks... even if by 100. ) that is still considered "normals" but with a little more risk to the game. Not only will this promote "try hard" play style, but it will also promote inviting others for a solid team to try to increase win rate.

This is truly my own thought onto fixing a problem that has nearly made me quit league, and i'm assuming a lot others too. The problem isn't the League community, the problem is the mixing two to three different style of gamers. the 3rd being the trolls, that you just can't fix ;)

Let me know what you think, i'm always up for a discussion :)

sincerely

This is why i think there should be more than just 1 set of normal queues. or completely rename the current ones to the following.

  • Competitive Ranked Draft Pick
  • Competitive Draft Pick (This will Track your KDA)
  • Casual Queue (Will not Track KDA)

This way people know when and where to be serious. Also i would like to note, that if have a KDA tracker in normals people will also take it more seriously. But then again, you could also create another mode that is completely KDA tracker free. (it will not track your KDA)

I'm not in your games, so I don't know what's going on in your chat; but my suggestion would be to look at the way you are interacting with other players rather than blaming them. In my experience, the term "try hard" is usually lobbed as people who are being critical of their teammates. The problem isn't that they are trying to win, but that they are criticizing a players ability, and that player gets defensive. Honestly, I think the players that don't care about winning are just going to ignore you. The ones that talk back are going to be the ones that are doing their best and don't want to be told that they aren't good enough.

Try to makes sure that your comments are positive. Don't dwell on mistakes, but try to be proactive about leadership: instead of telling them they should have flash stunned, next time you sense a fight coming, say something like, "If you flash stun that Ahri, we can burn her down and win this fight."
