Well... People know all too well how dirty laning phase is with him. That's been true for a long time.

But his teamfight just isn't that good. His ult makes it seem like it would be, but it's just kinda clunky and underwhelming most of the time, honestly.

Yorick has always been strong, no one plays him though so most people dont care :/

Yorick is really strong for the reasons you mentioned, but his damage falls off pretty badly late game unless you keep building damage, which is a huge risk. Since he can't reliably build damage throughout the game, he scales poorly and he lacks the utility to make up for it unless there is a hypercarry in the FotM meta that he can ult.

His rework is long overdue. Very oppresive to play against f you counter your opponent in lane, but you scale off into obscurity come lategame since both your damage and your ability to peel is atrocious. As much as I appreciate having him around, he is a really unhealthy champion that even Riot has aknowledged needs work.

I only play him when I'm drunk and in the mood for an uninteractive and infuriating lanephase. His secret pubstomp item is ZZ portal--turns him into a split-pushing freak.

I personally wouldn't run ER on Yorick since stacking crit only causes you to deviate from spending gold on stats you actually scale better with--as an AD caster, his crit-scaling is rather poor. I prefer running with something like item 3004 item 3025 item 3156 item 3512 item 3053 item 1333 .
