I'm quitting and here is why

I enjoyed this game for a little over a year. I'm an Dota veteran but I didn't like Dota 2 it just felt too clunky , slow and unnecessarily complicated. League to me was what Dota 2 should have been but I digress back to why I'm quitting.

This game has become too stale. Riot enforces the long trending meta of 1tank top,1ap mid,2bot adc/sup 1 jung so hard now that attempting to step outside of it is like fighting a horde of bloodthirsty meta zombies who only know how to do one thing. This game feels like a box inside a box. I had more fun leveling when I could choose who I want and go where I wanted assuming I called it fast enough :P.

The meta enforcing even spilled over into normals but to be frank I don't like normal games because they aren't as competitive as ranked play. This game is just so boring currently and I see new players get the same burn out effect as me once they reach 30 and realize they are forced into the same play type over and over.

Maybe sometime in the future riot will give league back to the players and stop tailoring for the LCS until then I'm out of here.

You do realize that as long as pros are a thing, there will be a meta in this game right? Like, name me a game that doesn't have a meta? Name me an online game that doesn't have a meta, yeah, the meta changes with buffs and nerfs, but I will sit here and wait for you to tell me a game that doesn't have one period. (Don't say HoTS either, because the only reason that game doesn't have a meta is because it is too new, give it a year and it will have one too.)

DOTA 2 has multiple metas, including trilanes, 4 in 1 lane 1 solo 1 abandoned lane, 2-1-1-1, etc. Thats because DOTA 2 doesn't put padding on the heroes. The lane bullies there can really lane bully and win 1v2s such that they actually need a trilane to shut them down hard enough, but have huge weaknesses elsewhere. League is balanced for the 14 year old COD kids that need to win 1v1 in lane.

And the only reason it allows that is because how much harder lane bullying is there. How is it fun to not exist because your opponent picked a character after you. Why am I not allowed to ulti with Rylai if my opponent chooses Sniper, why am I not allowed to stand near cliffs at Earthshaker? Why can I even look in the direction of Legion Commander as a support?

You have the attitude that turns most people off from Dota 2. That mentality of it's so complicated to play therefore it's better and if you can't/don't want to play then you are a child. Dota 2's community really kills the game before it begins. The only reason Dota 2 exist in this modern market is because it is living off the legacy of the original Dota. I normally don't like flat out downing games but Dota 2 is a flaming pile of dung.

Two things:

  1. Most of us aren't pros.

  2. It's still a game. Nobody should have the power to force you to follow some metagame, especially if you aren't playing competitively (ranked, for example).

Then blame the community for being dead set on following it no matter what, sure Riot is to blame as well as are the pros, but countless times you see people afking, raging, or flaming if you don't pick in the meta, it is a two way street.

I agree but it doesn't help when riot makes obvious changes to enforce the meta.

I never said anything about nerfing top level characters you should put the crack pipe down for a while and step outside for some fresh air.

I never play thresh or leona. I used to vieg top though but vieg is gone now. This is another reason to leave this game. Toxic troll community maybe not as bad as Dota 2 but still like being naked in a room full of poison ivy plants.

I don't see Riot enforcing a meta on me whatsoever, Talon is strong atm, so I jungle talon, Shen counters yasuo? Gonna take him mid, Aatrox has good cc/sustain, It's best to use him against champions without executions, I play Vladimir the most in ranked so far, I'm pretty sure he isn't being forced onto me, and neither is my Trundle Jungle or Trundle top, You don't see them on LCS, getting buffed, getting nerfed, but they are MY good champions so f**k the meta. YOU DONT HAVE TO FOLLOW IT. They have never made changes to enforce a meta from what I can tell.

The ward debuff/buff , the Vieg nerf , the tower armor changes all of those where designed around LCS players to enforce the meta. Let's not forget the jungle camp buff they made to keep squishy players out of the jungle.

If I put the blame on anyone it is the community. They are the ones who are "enforcing" the meta onto the new playerbase. I feel it is unfortunate for you to not play back in beta or S1 when there wasn't really a meta and you could basically go where you wanted (though was a LOT different back then with a lot less champions). Since I got to play through all of that, I'm okay with how the game shifted because I got to see it evolve and change to what it is now because it helped improve your odds of winning the game. I could probably go on and on about why certain things do/don't work as well and why this should/shouldn't be done this way, but since you don't get to experience it for yourself, it isn't as great for you. For me, I feel RIOTS only fault is that they accepted the meta created by the players and even made a game mode with it (teambuilder). With the way the community is, I feel the only way for you to be able to get some "freedom" with what you do is basically reach challenger/master because not many people can complain about you doing certain things and even if they do, as long as you're higher ranked then them, you are "better" then them :P.

The meta may have started as community mandated, but in reality Riot strives to uphold the meta cause its easier for the community and the balance teams. The meta will exist as long as the champs aren't free for everyone, meaning you can't really balance based on team compositions because with limited champ pools you can't guarantee the availability of all comps.

Because you have to expect 1 adc to match up fairly against all other possible adc/support pairs you can't have too unique of a skillset. Everyone gets vanilla skills to make sure that every adc matches up half way decently against any other adc. By enforcing the meta they dont need to worry about balancing that one adc against all other lane comps and team comps.

If you pick void (the supposed 1v5 hero), and they're team picks ranged heroes with good ranged stun and harass, good luck getting any farm in lane. You will need a team to rotatea defensive tri lane to ur side so that you can slavage some farm. Then when we get to mid game you realize if you dont' catch 2-3 in ur bubble, someone is bound to EULS you or disable u in the bubble thus nulifying it.

Problem is you just said you're a DotA veteran, and this is where I step in, in comparison to League, how is DotA 2 functionality, "clunky", are your fingers just really fat and when you click the camera it doesn't move the way you want, like really what are you saying necessarily. I am the DotA defender boi and you just entered the keyword.
