Supports with good peel. His poke isn't good, and his engage is limited to landing the dash taunt.

Alistar Braum Janna Lulu Morgana Nami Thresh

Special mention to Thresh and Janna who can interrupt his dash before it gets to taunt with relative ease, and to Morgana whose shield is a big fuck you to his one CC ability.

Another Shen....

No, that's how you enforce a meta that forces top lane tanks to go bot lane for cheese strategies.

Although, I myself am guilty of playing Shenpai bot lane...

Naut and Braum, bb, Naut and Braum. Nautilus Braum

Nautilus is the CC king and can hold down shen long enough for the adc to take him down, and Braum, well, is an obstacle for him, as well as doing basically true damage (%health damage based on BRAUMS health) lol so naut can lock shen in place, and braum can straight up dank, tank, and dunk a shen sup early game (provided the adc focuses him as well) and focusing the shen sup will leave most enemy adcs confused, out of position, and vulnerable while trying to kill these two goliaths of support. [slayer-jinx-wink]

EDIT: At least, at lower ELOs

Interrupts/CC/rescue from support, CC/escapes from ADC.

Shen has 6 specific weaknesses, wherever he goes.

  1. Terrible wave clear. Relic shield helps with this, but he needs Q to farm effectively and efficiently.

  2. Low auto attack range. He will have to walk around minions to get to his target if he's not dashing.

  3. The lack of a proper heal. Shen's Q is the worst scaling heal in the game, and it's difficult to give to allies because very few targets can survive to give an effective heal in the lane.

  4. The obvious "needs-to-scale" rule. Tanks are generally very squishy early on, so if you catch him out early it's an easy kill, unless his E is up.

  5. His attack pattern is always, ALWAYS the same. E in, Q, Auto, W, etc. If you predict it, you're good to go. But watch out for the flash plays.

  6. Shen support lacks true utility. A global shield and teleport is nice, but it adds nothing to the lane and thus he lacks a proper power spike at 6 like other traditional supports. Every single support has either a way to lockdown the enemy or provide utility to their team. Heals, shields, speed-ups, steroids, and displacements all give carries the tools to beat their opponent. Shen has a taunt that can easily be side-stepped if seen coming. Everything hinges on his E.
