Is there any point to ranked right now? I was going to go try and make gold before new season but I just found out apparently everything now is pointless? No rewards and it all just gets reset? Why isnt ranked just disabled during this time then, people can just draft pick if they want practice.
Whoever told you there is no point is trying to screw with you. Your mmr still gets adjusted in the offseason and allows for better or worse placements depending on how you do. There is no hard reset, aka mmr reset, but a soft reset that brings everyone closer together and then places you from there.
There are no rewards after preseason, so no skins/border becuase the real season is already over. But in Season 6 say you went from silver 5 to gold 3 or whatever in preseason then you can be placed higher than s5. All it does it adjust your placement for the next season.
