The game is good, only spend RP if you really want something or otherwise can't get it.

Speaking as someone who's been playing since Season 3; while it may seem like a good idea, don't use RP (cash money) on champions, nor use your refunds on champions. Be patient and buy champions that interest you with IP you earn by playing the game. If they turn out to not be your thing, oh well. You learned more about your own playstyle, you can try and pick them up again later if you want, and in certain queue types you have that champion available to grab for someone else.

Also... spend as little time on the boards as possible. The League of Legends community is passionate, but lacks in constructiveness. You'll see a lot of negativity and raging around here, and it can quickly make you cynical. Judge the game by its own merits first, then learn how to deal with its community.

ALSO: A game like League is in a constant state of balance flux. Some things might seem overpowered, some might seem so weak as to be useless. Do your best to learn how to deal with any champions or strategies that give you trouble, whether playing as them or against them.

Experiment with different champions and roles and look up guides on how to do each. Pick a role or 2 that you like the most and experiment with some champs in it until you find one you like. Work on mastering that champ and role and maybe get a coach (which you can get for free) if you can't figure out what you're doing wrong. Hold off on spending RP until you find a champ you love and want to get a skin for them.

The game itself isn't super fun until you get good at it. It's not a game like skyrim where it's fun in and of itself, it's more like a sport where it's competitive and the fun comes when you improve and do well.

Dont blow money on teir 2 runes. And just get Amumu, Annie, Ashe, Garen and Soraka for each role. All pretty easy to play and dont cost much.

Turn around and leave this God forsaken place. It's full of salty six year olds who do nothing but scream profanity at you for every little mistake.

Here's a tip play something else

The community will always be bad as it is currently the balance will never truly be perfect and champions who don't deserve nerfs will get nerfed because bad players are complaining

you will always run into feeders and players who cannot position or lane properly or just play safe in lane so they don't get ganked.

riot will punish you for even giving any critism towards a players who is playing badly because he will see you as a person bullying him for playing badly

plus the game is losing it's fun it once had before

I have net countless friends off this game both in my esports club and around the world. I love this game through all its faults and play it weekly

I recommend not to play it

As somebody who has been playing for 2 years, I do not recommend getting into the game because your favorite champion will either get nerfed People will ban that champion People will flame at you for picking that champion Or people will literally give you shit if you happen to feed the enemy

Aka every bronze and silver player ever

\o/ Awelcome to league. To answer seriously:

I like this game. Been playing since the end of Season 3 so for me, this game is definitely good. The community is... but that feels normal with any online game, you'll meet a variety of characters. I think I'm one of the lucky few who only encounter toxicity, like once every other week.

I kinda suck, so I can't really go suggesting what champs to play/avoid... That's up to you in the end. Try out champs during their free week, in custom or co-op. Find champs that click with you and feels easy to use. I'm not saying that that particular champ is op, or doesn't take skill (I'm awful with the champions this community deems easy: Garen Riven Zed MasterYi ... ) Try and find a few picks that feel right (at least two for each role: top, mid, jungle, marksman, support). Try and focus on 1-2 roles at a time. (I'm only decent at 2 of them this long into the game lol) Once you have a variety of champions, then buy runes for them:

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2s5snf/cheat_sheet_for_rune_pages_for_the_2015_season_as/ ^ This should still be viable, take a look at a few of the standard pages.

Whether or not the game is good is a bit of an opinion. I will point out that enough people think it's good for the playerbase to exceed any other computer games by a large margin.

As to putting money in, don't until you're level 30. When/if you do, the champion packs are actually a pretty good deal. Save your IP for runes. (Tier 1 and 2 runes aren't quite as bad for the cost as they used to be, especially tier 2, but it's still iffy on whether you should buy any under tier 3.)

Champion tips is a never ending topic.
