Thoughts on Syndra

I don't watch competitive League very often and don't claim to have a very good understanding of the game, but seeing Rito buffing some midlaners unpopular in pro play rather than tuning down the staple champs got me thinking, and the first champ that I thought of when thinking of competitive midlane staples was Syndra. Thanks to a lot of her damage being tied to her Q stacked ult, Syndra doesn't really need to hit all that many abilities to achieve her function, and can simply lay down some Qs before sniping a target with E and ulting them. Just dodge the spears aside, I think that Syndra should be rewarded for landing a complete rotation, while being penalized if she decides to play safe and not bother going through all of her spells, which suddenly inspired an idea regarding an ult change.

Unleashed Power: New passive- Hitting an enemy with an ability applies a stack which lasts for x seconds, refreshed when another stack is applied, stacking up to 3. When Syndra ults an enemy, the stacks are consumed and each stack causes her to launch one of the spheres orbiting her along with all of the ones on the ground.

This change would take away the base damage on her ult without any Qs, and would thus warrant some form of compensation buff since I don't think she deserves a flat nerf, but this type of power shift would allow her to still nuke an enemy without it feeling like they got outplayed by Syndra's ER combo because she can leave a bunch of balls laying around after level 9. I don't really play Syndra often, but this change just came to my head and I was compelled to share it, so I would appreciate feedback.

Completely defeats the purpose of her stacking mechanic and basically mandates a fundamental kit redesign. The whole 'lay down spheres, snipe a stun and kill' you mention is one of her core gameplay designs in the control->trap pattern she works on. The reason why she is based off time spent is because accuracy is still required, and being able to kill by her R alone means she's already in an advantageous state against the enemy she's doing it against.

If you want to live test your idea, play Syndra and don't use her ultimate when your abilities miss, regardless of the spheres you have. You'll quickly experience how clunky, unreliable, and utterly painful it is trying to do anything with her.

I would get behind it, something needs to be done about her press R to win problem.
