Rakan's Autoattack

I was just watching the Rakan spotlight on ff@20 and his autoattack caught my eye. Partially because it is rather visually impressive imo, but also because of its awkward range, wherein it's shorter range than that of most ranged supports, but longer than that of most melee supports. Is he going to be treated as ranged, since his auto range is technically fairly far away from him, even though the animation is a melee strike, and most of his abilities are short ranged? He seems like a Relic Shield support to me, and it would be a shame to have such an arbitrary hurdle, especially considering Thresh has an autoattack buff to compensate for not getting executes.

He's coded as ranged. He just has an alternate animation for hitting a character in melee range. The equivalent would be if Caitlyn whipped out a Bowie knife and shivved someone when she was in melee range - the fact that Rakan automatically assumes a non-melee distance to attack enemies means he is ranged. This is why it is recommended he get the Ancient Coin and not the Relic Shield. Rakan is to be more akin to an assassin - he's nimble, quick, and does his shit, but if he gets caught, he dies.

He is ranged and just has a short range auto. he even has separate animations for his Melee range and long ranged auto attacks.

Also, I personally recommend Coin on him much more since it synergyses with his playstyle far more via its MS and such. He is meant to be a fragile mobile support Enchanter/Assassin, not a durable frontline fighter or tank.

Range should be at least 425 minimum, but it is a ranged attack. (ranged attacks are suppose to be 400+, also he has ranged stats)

I mean he is not really auto attacking all that much so it doesn't matter too much
