I facepalm when people tell me they main jungle only to find out...

Lee Sin, Jarvan IV, Vi, Rek'sai, and/or Nidalee (In no particular order) are their most played champions. And those are the only ones they can play very well (What a surprise)!

I'm not condemning them for trying abusing freelo; I learned a long time ago through an unsuccessful forum post that people should be allowed to play what they want without others judging them, but a person who mains a role should be versatile in their picks.

He/she should not ONLY be able to use OP champs in the current meta.

Sadly this ideal has gone a bit downhill in the stale metagame. Moreover, practically all of them scoffed at the idea of Amumu, Rammus, Hecarim, or even Sion ever possibly jungling!

"Pfft! What? Why would I go [insert specialist jungler choice here] jungle? It sucks!" "Why should I even bother with those champs when my mains can do everything better?" "I can't imagine other champ outside from Jarvan, Lee, and Vi jungling and succeeding" -YES SOMEONE ACTUALLY SAID THIS.

Mind you a majority of people I asked started playing around mid-season 2.

I feel like this describes a majority of season 5 "jungle mains". No one bothers with anything even slightly not God-tier in LoL anymore :(.

Agreed. It's not to say playing meta picks is bad, but what happens when the meta changes? you're going to have to spend a few days learning entirely new meta jungle champions and then the next patch rolls around and you learn them all over again. And again, and again.

Meanwhile, I'm still desperately trying to make Jungle TF work with the Soft Reset nerf. Which he's probably never going to get compensated for. #junglediversity UoL for lyfe!

Oh by the way, make sure the people scoffing at Amumu at least know not to to take the %health over Tantrum first before they dis him.

Whos to say they wouldnt play the "new meta" champ when it comes around?

In general for a lot of newer people, it is EASIER to play the "god" tier champions because it will give them the easiest wins. Also, all they have to do is go to the current LCS jungler they think is god, watch their stream or build and play like that. It is EASY for them to copy and do because there are so many examples of it out there. It is one of the things I dislike about LCS affecting the current state of the game. I don't blame the pro's for playing those champions. Those champions are good and considering they're playing for their jobs, I'd do EVERYTHING in my power and use every tool I can to keep it. It is what the audience, the kiddies who copy them, that ruins it. They basically believe that ONLY those champions are worth playing and consider ANYTHING not them trash tier and not worth touching. The problem I see is their unacceptance of trying anything else and not accepting anyone who plays something not meta. They are all just sheep and once they lose their "mains", they will have to jump onto the next bandwagon :3. If you think of them that way, its kind of funny and pathetic ;).

Well, people want to win, so of course they'll pick what ever champion is easier to win with.

I personally never had success with the top tier picks though. Rarely win with Lee or Vi, and can't carry as j4 even when I do well.

Aww come on people at least read my thread before downvoting?

And if y'all disliked it, please tell me why.

just because those 3 are their most played champs does not mean they only know those 3 champs.... i play sivir, jinx, and caitlyn as my primary 3 ADCs but that doesn't mean I don't know how to play quinn, kog maw, tristana, and graves. i just choose not to because i prefer the others.

I main nunu jungle and stomp on other "god tier junglers" because I get dragon at level 2 And never have to back due to jungle camp damage, meaning I can keep farming until I get devourer then go back get that and keep farming/ganking with no items until I A:die B:get 10k gold C: think "maybe ill get items now"

dont get me wrong I can play other junglers (fiddle lee j4 eve elise vi ect) but nunu is by far the best jungler right now but for some reason people dont understand that new drag control is actually REALLY REALLY GOOD

for example: played a game, we lost tons of towers and kills, by the time I got the fifth drag we were down to just inhib turrets, BUT because I got the 5th dragon and every other dragon, and the enemy had no dragons, we were defending fairly easily and got caught up in items and from there on out downright snowballed them in the face HARD

they didnt throw, they didnt feed, they didnt do anything wrong......except get no dragons

TLDR: dragon control is how to win games and nunu gets dragons EZ

I admit that I'm beast with Vi because of her power, but I will say she requires more skill than LeeSin due to having less in her kit. Yeah, her ult is point-and-click, but people waste its teamfighting potential just to score kills. -_-

But I agree. Bruiser junglers are only one type out there. People are hesitant to take tanks (like Sion) or AP junglers (Amumu, Elise, etc) or even stealth junglers because of the difficulty involved. The ganking styles are different, and the teamfighting is different. These junglers you're describing sound kill-thirsty, rather than a team-orientated player.

When I play Vi, I build one damage item for clearing then build full tank so I can be the frontline for teamfights. I give my laners the kills so they can build damage and won't be afraid and will always follow up once I initiate (because I won't, ya know, die immediately). I do this with a lot of junglers I play. I play bruiser Elise, so I can use utility and AP to soften up my foes so teammates can kill them, and I can still take down turrets and objectives if need be. I even play Evelynn sometimes (she's really hard...) and have to rely on my teammates. Hell, I even take Irelia out once in a blue moon, and I STILL need my teammates help to score kills (because I build, you guessed it, bruiser).

The point is, these junglers are solo queue gods and played by kill-thirsty players, when there's many more options that can help the TEAM and not your kda. This is why you don't see Nautilus often, despite he's a walking tank of cc and the frontline for teamfights. He's a monster in the right hands, and nobody's playing him because everyone wants the glory (face it, how many people call support in champion select? It's always top/mid/jg/adc). Junglers are there to support the team, not just be yet another carry.

This just in... most people are awful and only do consistently well when abusing OP champs and the powerful meta picks.

AKA: Learning to play someone well is hard. Why not abuse the freelo like a scrub then write up complaint posts when they're nerfed.
