Garen Suggestion: A possible addition to his passive

So Pyke having a passive that converted health to ad to compliment his kit made me think of something that could help out my favorite top laner GAREN. What if he had a passive that would convert mana to some other useful stat? it would open up some items that he would love to build, such as iceborn gauntlet or righteous glory. It also fits thematically, as demacian armor absorbs the magic of the items and converts it to something better. I feel like this could make garen better and open up his itemization as his current options feel lackluster.

Honestly I think this is less of a Garen issue and more of an issue that any and all no-mana champions have to deal with. Would be nice if mana would be an adaptive stat of sorts, and give a significantly smaller amount of something to them (energy/energy regen to energy champions, health regen to cooldown champions?)

I mean you're right, but it's still thematically appropriate for Garen.

I'd rather have energy specific items created tbh, and champions with other resources (rage, flow, etc) probably don't need any additions made to something they're already balanced around. Or maybe we can have unique items made for those champions too? Hm...

But I don't think making mana a useful stat for manaless champions is a good idea as they already get the benefit of not needing mana to cast. It'll either become a negligible buff, or make them stronger than their mana counterparts and require nerfs compared to the state they're currently in.

While the Garen idea sounds interesting, jumping the gun for all manaless champions might come across as change for the sake of change and I'm not sure we should encourage Rito.

IKR. How can someone work up the nerve to ask for a garen buff. His e can crit. Fuckoff and accept it. Still does some of the most early game top damage. Not fun to play against.

this isnt really a buff though. its more of a way to widen his itemization options. making items that have mana on them just as cost effective as his usual bruiser items. it doesnt automatically mean hed be stronger than hes now.

i think it would be fair as an inspiration rune, because you offset the added benefit in build versatility with the power budget of the rune slot.

it would fit inspiration very well as a rune, since the path is supposed to enable versatility and gameplay choices instead of the direct power in stats, that the other pathes would give you. example would be open spellbook as a keystone rune, that doesnt give you direct damage or defense like other runes, but gives you summoner versatility by being able to switch them out multiple times in the same game.
