Why don't I play Ranked matches vs people in my own league??

I placed in silver 1 after having teammates constantly disconnect/ragequit.. ok. fine. All placements were vs golds and plat.

Why am I still playing vs gold and plat. I was placed in silver 1. I should be able to face people in this league, win enough games to carry myself out. Why do I not face Silver players so I don't have to grind out a .50+ winrate vs the people in a higher league?

edit: Wow, the downvotes though... Not sure where the naysayers are in terms of actually voicing an opinion.

Is it wrong to think that you should be playing vs ppl in your own league?

Think of it this way, suppose there's a team in the EFL Championship (the league right underneath the Premier League: Manchester, Chelsea, etc). Now this team is stacked with amazing players, suppose they can stomp the competition, and even compete against ManU, ManCity, etc.

They're not going to have to play vs Premier League teams, they'll face teams in their league until they promote.

An even more direct example, teams who make it to the challenger series don't play vs LCS teams until they have to promote. They play vs other teams competing to get into the LCS...

Because it is based on MMR.

It's a stupid system. It is what happens when you use ELO in a 5v5 role based game and expect players to grind endlessly rather than fix a flawed system.

Why does Riot think its ok that New Level 30 accounts Join ranked games at Silver 5 and not Bronze 5 where they belong? Because Riot like to make the game harder then it needs to be. More Climb is their motto.

According to OP.GG you're Solo MMR in ranked is that of a Gold 4, so the game thinks you will climb, so it pits you with better people. I'd rather play with G/Ps the B/Ss, makes the game way easier. If you continue to lose though your MMR will tank and you will be playing vs Silvers.

"Why should I have to be able to play against higher rated players so I can be counted as one of those higher rated players?" When it's rephrased, the answer becomes self-evident.

If somebody can only win against Silver players, then they are a Silver player. If he is climbing to Gold, he should be able to play against low Gold otherwise he is not low Gold. If a 1500 point player is going to be rated as such, then it is expected that he plays against other 1500 point players.

Keep in mind your LP gains/losses depend on your mmr relative to your rank, so by facing higher mmr players you're actually going to climb faster.

Even having a 45% winrate against plat players would probably still result in climbing due to you gaining more LP for wins than losses if you had a plat mmr despite being silver ranked.
