Support Itemization: Solving an Old Problem By Creating A New One
If I remember well (And correct me if I'm wrong), the whole reasoning to change the old Iron solari's stats and unique passive (gave Mr to allies) was so that supports would be a bit more free when it came to their builds. They also introduced 3 new support items to give us more option but as all of you may know, now as supports we are more or less forced to build 2 items now instead of one (Btw not talking about wards and starting support items those are a given if you ask me). Those 2 items are the redemption and the new solari. As much as I liked them at 1st it is now a pain to build those because if you want a higher chances to win a game as a support you HAVE to build them and on every type of support may it be tank or ap (excluding full ap support such as brand and zyra they are more like secondary ap carries if you want my opinion.) So if you do the math boots+SS+Support Item+Solari+redemption= 5 (or 4 if you combined your SS) So that leaves you one or two spaces for items and by the time you get their the game will most likely end soon. Especially nowadays with games rarely going over the 35-40 Min mark.

So ya I just find it kinda stale playing support nowadays because of that...
I know that creating items for support has never been easy Riot but I hope their is something good for us in the future.
